Here kitty-kitty!

My pics are hosted on another site and sometimes it goes down for maintenance or they change something that afftects the link. I'll try to repost and see if that helps.

Dr. Mudd I'm in the panhandle too and I also remember there being a lot more skunks around. In fact, as a kid I can remember you could never go on a car trip anywhere just slightly out of a city without smelling skunk repeatedly on the road. Not that I miss it but I haven't smelled one in many years that way. I also remember some years back the FWC gave me a flyer, (can't remember if it was with a license or at a check station or what) asking hunters for info about skunks because of severe declines in population. IIRC they were concerned about some kind of disease.

I think a skunk would make a much better watchdog than a pitbull. Imagine criminals invading your front yard, with that thing in the way!

A distant relative from Fall River went out several times on whalers. One Capt. kept a skunk on board (UNFIXED!) 'cause he said it was a better rater than a cat and less trouble. Apparently, the skunk and the crew got along just fine. It had been around people since it was a "kitty." If it was hungrey, it would sit up and beg for scraps. Relative made a little drawing in his journal.

Wish I had that journal now. No idea where it ended up when Grandma and Gramps passed on. :(

I had one walk over me once when sleeping on the ground. Four babies followed. I kept real still. Didn't want to see THAT dance.

A lot of criminals today, would probably think it is a kitty! And probably a lot of other city folk.
