Here she is. My first Sebenza

Yes, but $125 is a lot to some, as if it was $600; at least he recognised quality. In my book its a
Sebenzers are meant to be understated, the difference between an Omega watch and a glitzy Rolex. Omegas have more class.

Had a coworker offer to buy it from me last night. Told him i just got it and asked if he knew anything about the knife. He had no clue about CRK. Said he knew it looks if quality and offered me $125 :thumbdn:
Don't sell it- I can beat that by at least $25
You either understand these higher price(lack of better term) knives or you have absolutely no clue. I am sure he thought he was being very reasonable.

There is no way in he-will im selling it. Just thought it was funny he thought $125 was a good offer. I just chuckled and respectfully declined.

Here's the best way to disassemble and reassemble a Sebenza without pinching the phosphor/bronze washers.

You have a beauty. I don't think I've ever had a "new" one...
Super-goodness all the way. Lifetime plus.

You don't need to dissasemble the whole knife to clean the washers.

I was going to take mine apart because everyone was saying they had. I never got round to it and had it now for 16 years; gets plenty of use. Just because you can doesn't mean you have to. Maybe some day I'll give mine a deep clean rather than just a drop of oil when I remember!

Your 16 year old sebenza does not have the new perforated washers. Which is great!

I don't care for the new washers at all. The new ones require maintenance. The old solid washers tend to get smooth w/o any issues.

No you don't but I like the away he reassembled it, I was lookin' for a quick clean and lube video but in all honesty I got hungry and distracted and saw this had the better assembly instructions

I do a truncated version of a clean and lube like you're talkin' about colubrid when it's just gettin' relubed after some washings in soapy water. :)

Thanks for that, not feeling quite so guilty. I've other things in life that need fixing, Sebenzas one less to think about. Heck, I like fixing things, but I don't go looking; "if it ain't bust....and all that.."

Sebenza's are easy to take apart and better yet easy to re-assemble, but none of my other knives with similar parts get taken apart for regular maintenance, so I see no reason the Sebenza would need to be.
They are making the newer washers with less and less metal, so I can see as colubrid said those need different care. Though I never thought about it until just now.

That's the thing with CRK knives. They are of the highest quality, but

1) Owning one doesn't impress people who don't care about knives...they don't know what they are; and
2) Owning one doesn't impress people who do care about knives...they all know what they are...they aren't esoteric/exotic and owning one does not turn one magically into some kind of knife genius.

That said, congrats and enjoy using the knife.

True, but We know they are class. Brutish, brash and crass isn't my type of cool. Understated and quality never goes out of fashion.

Great choice, great example, enjoy.
We are happy for you but these threats just turn into another CRK Sebenza thread: with those who love them and those who will never get it. Just because I have a couple of Sebies doesn't mean I haven't a few other knives, nor stopped buying. But the rest are just for the fun of it.

I took mine out for a ride today. :) Got some more pics of yours?
