Clearly, you'll never be a bushcrafter.

🤣🍻
I have a special tool for that. 😁

To be fair, I use my EDC fixed and folders LOT more on food, boxes, straps, game, plastic, etc. than on wood.

While I enjoy whittling and carving as much as the next guy, I just don't have to opportunity or need to as much.

Most of my "bush crafting" is done with a machete, hoe, chainsaw, weed eater, mower, and rake.

The primitive crowd, most of whom are heavily into bushcraft including people doing rendevous and such probably use as many old carbon steel kitchen knives as anything else. Some have been ground into a Nessmuk style, some have been shortened, some were just made short. You'd be surprised at the amount of guys running around with a repurposed kitchen knife that has 5 hours work into it carried in a beaded, fringed Native American style sheath that has 25+ hours of work into it.

Terms change, and new ones are adopted its called language. Bushcraft whatever people consider it is popular and people like using the term and labeling certain gear with it. If we didnt move forward in language we wouldn't have English or most other languages or terms we have today.

And the steel? Magnacut is objectively amazing, its a breakthrough in modern day knife steel performance. Why wouldnt people into knives be really excited about it?

Seriously...is the point of this thread just to moan about things not remaining the same?

That's it, I'm convinced.
Going back to using a stone axe.

I'm too lazy to read all of the preceding messages. If someone will kindly give me my opinion and let me know if I am For It or Against It, I would appreciate the assistance.
FOR all cutlery types and AGAINST division of blade aficionados. 😀

Read a guy on youtube say he only buys Bushcraft instead of Cold Steel because all the "failure" videos were of Cold Steel products.. seemed to be a lot more Cold Steel than Bushcraft products out there at the time... so that only stands to reason which he apparently did not have. Now it seems Bushcraft is becoming the Glock of the knife world. I wonder if this guy still thinks the same way.

I hike all of the time. My Case medium stockman is the knife I take. Is it bushcrafty? I don't know. Tactical is dead, so now we are all mountain men instead of operators I guess. I'll just keep enjoying my hikes and not worry about it. The same goes for knife steel. Carbon steel does all I need it to do. Guess I'm not one of the cool kids. Good!
