Heritage Set

Received my order today also. Two 532's and a 500. Overall impression is that they are nice.

A couple of fine details noticed:

1) The blade to backspring junction is not as "seamless" as other 532's I have.

2) One edge of the liners is polished and the other has a very sharp 90 degree edge? It is the same on both 532's; if holding it blade open pointed away, the left side is smooth and the right side has the sharp edge?

3) The finish on the canvas micarta is uneven. Where the scales meet the bolsters, they are more polished and in the centers, they are duller and have some scratches from buffing.

As said, overall they are basically NICE and the details mentioned are from a "collector" perspective. As using knives, they ALL lock up tight, blades centered when closed and SHARP even edges on the blades.

Here is a picture showing what I described in the finish of the scales. I searched the forums, and there are some good examples of consistent polished canvas micarta. I'm thinking I may give polishing a try.

Other opinions welcome:D

I've had a chance to briefly examine the five knives. I'm very impressed with the 500 and 501. I'm pleased with the 110 and not so much with the 532 and 112. The oak case is nice.

I'll try to do some pictures tomorrow.

I'll work on some better pictures. These had to be photoshop'ed due to poor picture quality. They still sux.

The 112's scale color is a little off for me. That's all. F&F is good as is blade snap and pop. Nice knife actually.

Whats cool about this set is that ONLY real Bucknuts get a chance to own them...

So they are on e-bay before I even get mine!

BCCI is putting them up for auction and giving a one year membership with each purchase, since you need to be a BCCI member to purchase one!!

That's a new twist. :D

Ok, I got my Duke . It looks great ! Fit and finish is good . One little bobble on the left micarta slab a slight divot . They tried to smooth it out . This can happen easily when trying to work too fast . The edge is good, no burrs and sharpened on a coarse grit looks to be about 150 grit . Perfect, should give great edge retention . This will make a great everyday carry or bird and trout knife . The satin finish looks good on this blade .
Thanks Buck and BCCI . DM

My 500 intrigues me. First off it's a pattern I've alway liked a lot. Second, this is the first time S30V has been offered in this pattern (same on the 501). I've got another 501 coming to give to Dad but I think I'm going to carry mine...at least my 501 and 500.

David did your fix buff out really well?

Been carring my Duke some and I really like it . I think it is just the ticket for me in many instances . With its deep belly, locking blade and user friendly handle it will make a good Trapper and small game knife . I've been carring it in my watch pocket and its a good fit .
I've not cut much with it so, I'll update you later . DM

:) My Heritage 110 came today and I'm very pleased. The color looks great for an outdoors user, which is what I bought it for - to have a second user around the camp. Fit and finish are great. Very smooth polish with no scratches or mechanical irregularities in buffing, finishing etc.

The red spacers give it a snappy look. Very nice. The blade? What can I say about a well crafted S30V blade? It's my favorite. Solid opening and closing.

The color of the linen is not uniform. There are light and dark areas, as I see on photos others have posted here. I assume that it is a function of the material and its properties, since the scales are very smooth and well crafted. A perfectly even color would be a real show piece, but I didn't buy mine for show.

Wooden Boat Festival this weekend, camping in the Olympic National Park the week following: These events are when I'll give the knife a teething session. Just in time.
