He's Baaaaack.....

Hey Ethan welcome back! I wanna thank you for the Becker BK-9, that thing is a monster that im proud to say ive abused with much glee. Anyhow that knife takes my best and still ask for more which is why I love it. Im also quite fond of the Becker Necker, and carry it everyday.I plan on buying a BK-2 somewhere down the road.I swear these Becker knives are like tattoos, you get one, then you just buy more, and more and more till you got no place left to put them LOL! - Stay frosty, stay safe.

Hey Survival Solutions......

Thanks for the kind words....... I like to think that Beckers are a really good habit to have......... LOL....... Unlike tattoos if you decide you no longer want them there is a market for them used.....LOL......

Thanks for the lack of defensiveness in your reply.
Yeah, I'd be very surprised if recreational hunters could make a dent in the flocks you describe. If doves populations are, in fact, exploding due to grain farming, I wonder how much pressure this is putting on other, less numerous species?

About the passenger pigeons: While it seems the consensus is that some natural factors contributed to the extinction of the pigeons, your friend may be in the minority if he is suggesting that natural factors would have led to extinction without some human help. ...and limited ammunition probably didn't matter much once we devised ingenious ways to net and gas the birds.

Hey Grinter.......

Approximately twenty percent of all cereal grains grown in Argentina disappears down the gullets of wild birds........the roosts are measured in the millions ........ We often shoot a dove roost that boasts of six million birds.....SIX MILLION!!!!!!!... Game Management has given way to desperation .......... BTW the passenger pigeon had a natural implosion because, as my wise friend Bill Adams pointed out to me, there is no way the U.S. Could have manufactured enough shells to kill that many birds....... Maybe hunters delivered the coup de grace....... If Argentina has a die off it will be disease born I suspect....... When you first get to the field you can hear the roost like a giant bee hive humming loudly in the distance...... Very weird...... Very exciting......

Hey Grinter.......

I totally agree that hunting may have hastened the end....... That was the era of intense market hunting after all.....
