HEST #225 came in from RYP, #162 you're up for a beating

My review will be on the long term of course, that is why I need ideas from people, because I'm going to use it more than a few outings, actually it will be used a lot and I think that testing all types of work a knife can do is first of all fun and interesting, my first HEST #162 has been in my pocket since mid august and it has already worked this summer, since some rivers and a lot of wood work, haven't battoned with it though. Winter is most part of the year here and that for me is one of the most important thing is how it handles is low temps, in very humid environment with sometimes lot of salt (the cars suffer a lot here) and especially how is to use it with big winter gloves.

So lets just say the review will be lots of little reviews over a big period of time, and filling that time means I need lots of interesting ideas for me to test.

I won't baton the prybar into a log to split it, it seems unuseful (unless you can prove me), plus the length of the pry bar doesn't give enough leverage so that it can transfer lots of force, I will be hurting my self before I could open that log.

The "baton it into a tree to use as a step ladder" is good for a kid, but a 300lbs 6ft3" like me might not be a wise choice.

I didnt mean baton the prybar into the wood, i meant baton it like you would a chisel with the tip of the blade making contact with the wood.

Can't believe that's where #225 went, lmao. I wanted HEST #225 because I have a Izula #225, and my birthday is Feb. 25th.

I ended up ordering #110, still waiting for it to arrive.

I see you are in Canada we might be able to arrange something out if you want #225 a simple trade a hest for a hest. Though it depends on the shipping fees.

I had a similar little chippy in the same spot as Mr. KTA upon arrival... But I didn't care. Don't be evil to that knife, you were fortunate to get two for the price of one.

Seems like we had the same worker do our coating. I was very fortunate to have Ryp give another one. I won't be evil with its just that i can wear more quickly since i have another one. I really don't think it will be scrapped at the end, its just that it might end up naked from its coating at the end :)

Well I mean the stripped izulas look awesome... the HEST would be a sight in a stripped down form...

I may strip my numbered hest :( I just noticed after close inspection (used lately for EDC carry, typical cutting, mail opening etc) alot of paint flaking off the handle for some reason. The knife hasn't even been impacted there in any way that I know of. My RC5 isn't like that and it has seen much more abuse.

Not sure what's going on with these. This is the 3rd one doing this.

Let me know if you want us to re-coat it for you.

Bringing this back to the top. Still interested in re-coating your knife before you strip it.

Hey Jeff, what's the process to send it back and recoat it? Just ship it to you you have it for a few days and ship it back? We'll lose our coveted RYP etch and number and DPX and everything right? Is that how the production runs look? Sans all etchings except the DPX and HEST on the pommel?

It may take a while to get them re-done depending on how they fall into the system on coating production. We can put all the info back on it. We're not talking about re-doing worn coatings here, just those that are flaking.

sorry about that Jeff-I'm trying to decide if I want to go back to my old EDC for a while to have it done. It's a numbered one, would that present a problem with the re-coating?

If I send you th 162 for recoating, will you let me pay the shipping and handling both ways ? I got another HEST to do the test anyhow, and won't be crying because it is gone for a long time :) and 162 means to me a hell of a lot more than 225

At your first proposition I forgot to ask you, I thought it would screw up the numbers.
