hest folder warranty question

A company has the best fixed blade warranty in the business, and now implements a very good warranty on it's one and only folder. You think people wouldn't go nuts over it.

There is a difference between warrantying a rock, and a rock that splits in half, eats stuff, and closes back up.

If i go on other folder companies forums and start asking why they dont offer as good as warranty as HEST folder will have, which isnt even made yet, mind you, I bet i would get tons of responses, basically saying i suck...which i dont, because i'm awesome, just like HEST folder warranty is...what i'm trying to tell you here is... well, not sure, but probably that i'm awesome...

yeah I'll close it if I keep hearing your high opinion of one's self .

I haven't read this whole thread but I see some excitement right now that's not needed, especially since we still haven't nailed down the warranty details. It will have a lifetime warranty, regardless of who owns it or how many times it is traded. I doubt we will cover normal wear and tear, batoning the folder or taking it apart. This thing has moving parts and I don't care how good the lock is if you start batoning this thing you will loosen the lock. The folder game is a whole new ballgame due to moving parts. One of the reasons we have avoided folders in the past is because you just can't make them idiot proof :D

That is impressive, I was already happy with the lifetime warranty to the original registered owner, which I believe is 2nd to none - but I'm sorry to say that this warranty will get abused by idiots and folks who just want a spa treatment for free. I would like you guys to remain in business so that your grandchildren can run it, so please be specific on the folder warranty, otherwise its an open door to abuse.

This must be why Busse has not released a folder, me thinks;)

We will probably do a registered owner thing also but that will have perks within itself. For example, if you buy a Canon camera and don't send in the registration card, your camera is still under warranty (I know this shit becasue I never send in the card), but if you do send in the card it does put you in the "hat" for other perks, upgrades, etc in the future. Man, after reading this thread we just all need to chill out here. Damn folder is not even released yet! One thing we can do is have someone send in another 175 dollars with their registration card and then we will warranty the folder against anything, including wear and tear :D

Probably so and they're damn smart for not doing it, IMO. Folders will always be weaker than fixed blades, it's just the law of physics. I'm thinking now we should have put the price at 1000 bucks and made it an unconditional warranty :D

Not IDIOT PROOF...cheez! And I was gonna buy one. BTW love the Lite Machete...good tuff grind and best handle in the marketplace. Have put it to the test on my piece of the mountain and it has performed exceptionally.
Now, make me an Idiot Proof folder...I've already named it for you. :D

Keeping in mind the saying,
"The less they know, the louder they know it."

ESEE knife owners know the product rocks.
Warranties are for people who don't build them right the first time. :D

Once the Iuzla folder is introudced then you can bet it will follow the same warranty as the HEST folder, even though it's being made in the USA by Rowen. Simply put, we will not warranty ANY folder against wear and tear or straight-up abuse. Period. Shon Rowen is good but even he can't make a bullet-proof folder ;)

fair enough for me boss.

You know if something as straightforward as a hammer can't be idiot-proofed, a folding knife sure ain't gonna be!

I'm still trying to figure out the purpose of this thread. How you rag on a warranty that doesn't exist yet? That's some "Back to the Future" shit right there!

All I can say is: if ESEE keeps making them, I'll keep buying them. I've waited on buying a new pocket knife just in case Jeff and Mike came out with one. It looks like my wait has been worth the while. Produce it boys...you'll get my money even if it comes with an "Outta Sight" warranty*.

* Outta Sight Warranty: once it gets "outta sight" it doesn't have a warranty.

And it is still the best warranty in the buiz.

IMHO... I think it is VERY generous of ESSE Knives to even offer a lifetime warranty to the original owner since it is a folder.

I have utmost faith in Jeff, Mike & the Rowen's when it comes to not only great products but excellent business practices as well.

I'm just so #$&* glad every time I hear the Izula folder is on the way!
Gonna be great to own both and double the amount of folders I'd ever keep around anyway! :)

one point i thought should be mentioned, DPX gear who is responsible for the Hest folder, is a separate entity from ESEE.

Im ragging ESEE. Really. I'm here asking questions. That is what this forum is about. And if you don't agree with something then speak up. If it seems like ragging sorry, and don't get mad at me for wanting answers. I have learned the hard way to read the fine print and thats what I have been doing and what has been said before has been vauge when it cameto the warranty and registered owners. I get that folders have moving parts and batoning on a folder will mess up the lock etc, but ESEE knew that going in and had to factor that in the design/pricing. Im sure that the warranty on the hest will be better than "other" knife companies. But that does not mean that ESEE should do what "other" companies do and not cover wear and tear. If you won't cover "wear and tear" then give the option to buy "wear and tear" replacement parts. ESEE went against the grain with there fixed blades and why not do the same with the folder. Im sure that ESEE's warranty is a big reason for there knife sales was for me and a lot of people that I have talked too. And I also understand that you cant make an idiot proof knife no one can, but if you market a knife that you can take to the most dangerous places in the world, what does H.E.S.T mean. Hostile Enviroment Survival Tool. Keep the warranty. If it's too much to ask for ESEE to keep the same warranty on the hest folder as the fixed blades then so be it. But let us know what it is. If ESEE has not finalized the warranty then say so or lay it out for us like the fixed blades. I hope in reading R.A.T's comments that the warranty may continue to be transferable. I hope so. But if registering has perks then let us know that as well. I'm just going by the current info at hand and all that has been said is warranty to registered owners. So by me asking questions we know that "normal wear and tear" will not probably not covered and the warranty will be transferable and "perks" to registered owners. Progress.
