So you are looking for a self defense knife. All I did is point out that carrying a knife for self defense is stupid.... which it is.

Just get a knife you can carry for utility primarily. If you happened to need to poke a hobo, I'm sure anything you choose will work.

I also went on to say that I use it every day also. Any decent knife would work for most edc purposes. A box cutter could work for most thing except food prep.

My piint was that I want one that is good for edc, which is a relatively low standard, that can work for self defense, which is a relatively high standard.

But either way I'm not here to argue whether or not having a knife that you would use for self defense instead of your fists is a good or bad idea. I'm here for some input on what a good knife would be to fit my purposes.

I don't have a cpl, and I wouldn't be able to carry at work anyways knife is the next best, and legal thing to have.
 
i know most of you guys were saying para2, and i i love that one, but i went to a store and got a benchmade contego in my hands. i couldnt put it down, it was so nice.
so i got myself a black plain edge contego with cpm m4 steel =]
 
I'm sure that'll poke somebody just fine. I hope you never have to try to. I'm glad you found something that will work for you.

I was gonna recommend a waved Matriarch if you just had to have a knife for self defense. It is a purpose driven, un-politically-correct nasty pocket chainsaw. It won't do stuff a normal knife would do, but would definitely be great for self defense if you couldn't carry a gun.

Kinda jealous, I'd like a Contego myself, and an Adamas even more. ;)
 
I try not to poke em - don't wanna dodge the HIV squirting out.

A hobo asked me for a smoke the other day. I stuck one out the window at him - holding it by the very tip. He made a point of grabbing my whole hand with both hands, taking the cig from my grasp at the last second. Well, 30 minutes later after holding my hand out the window the whole way, I was at work. Washed my hands with bleach, gojo, lava, palmolive, simple green, etc. Blech!
