Hey Hunters... What Knife Are You..

It depends on which RAT I decide to purchase since it will be my first one. Thinking either RC-4 or RC-6.

Are you planning on killing them with the RC-6? If this is the case, you do see the irony of your post? Your name being shottgunner and all:D

Yup.

I'll have a Mossberg loaded up with slugs with me but it's just for emergencies, the 6 will be doing the deed.;)

Cool. Never heard of plp hunting hogs with a knife before. How do you get close enough? Blind? Even with that, it would seem to be hard to get a fatal cut or stab in such a short time.
If'n I didnt know no better, I'dn thinkn you'd be makn this up..

I have three Izula's, a RC3 and a RC5 but...my hunting knife is a Fallkniven H1 and before that a CS Pendleton Hunter. The CS is a brilliant blade shape designed by a bloke that has cleaned animals but the hilt is too small for my hands. The H1 is my favourite hunting knife ever. I am a huge fan of RAT knives and think that the RC3 is fantastic as an all round blade and have cleaned chamois, deer, pigs and hare with an Izula but could have used anything. There are no game animal seasons in New Zealand so it is a great place to be a hunter. I have no idea how many animals I have harvested over the years but any knife will work if you know how to use one. there be my opinion for whatit is worth.

For milani74, pig hunting with dogs to bail and hold is really exciting hunting. Once the dogs get an ear and have the pig distracted, grab a back leg, turn it over, and stick it either behind the shoulder or in the soft bit where the neck meets the chest. I know a lot of guys who only carry a carbine for when it gets too big or nasty, which means over 120 odd kilo's or so!

normally its a buck hunting knife with gut hook. i think its the omni (cant remember). I also have a Gerber hunting knife with gut hook as well. I also may take the either the RC4 or more than likely my izula around my neck as a back up blade.

I will probably use the RC3 again this year. The Izula is plenty of knife for deer-sized game, but the lack of scales makes it a little less secure in my hand.

I'm sorry that this slipped by me. Didn't see your reply last week.

Were going to have dogs to track and hold the boar for us. It's pretty wild, the dogs have Kevlar armor covering their heads and chest. The handlers are all certified field vets who can treat wounds and such in the field.

Frankly, when it was first described to me, I really wasn't into it, too barbaric and brutal. But I'm looking forward to it now.:D

Texas is desenseatizing me I guess.

i tend to like smaller knives for any sized game animal and i just got my first (maining more to come) Izula! this blade seems capable of preparing any game animal i come across down here in the great state of Texas! Ill alsom have my rc-4 just for shits and giggles!
