Now that was a great game
.
Not that it ain't over til it's, well...over, but it looks like I'm about a game away from shipping you some beans, eh?
Yes that was a huge game. The Giants can win at home now with their ace pitcher in game five. If the Giants lost today and they had to go back east to win that would be a huge difference. But the Phillies are a great team they could take three in a row from the Giants and it wouldn't be much of a surprise.
If you live in San Francisco it is well known that if you follow the Giants they will break your heart.
So why did you guys lock down the Hole threadThat seemed civilized enough..
And it's all tied up...PHILS WIN, PHILS WIN!!!!!!
...Or not! Ah, well...Such it life.
Ok, Tony, I guess I owe ya a couple pounds of coffee, huh?Shoot me a PM with your shipping addy and I'll get it headed your way.
Good luck to the Giants in the World Series!
Other than espresso the best coffee I have ever had is from a french press. OK don't panic they are not really french. But the coffee is ground coarsely and you just kind of let it soak in there for a while.
They are cheap and simple.
Well, there is an odd but simple variant of the french press. Uses vacuum...
Hard to describe, but consists of two glass bulbs. The one in the bottom has water and is heated (usually with a little alcohol lamp). The one in the top has an inset line that drops into the bottom bulb ... the upper bulb has the grounds. As the water below heats, steam rises up and begins gently removing coffee from the grounds. The steam rising causes a partial vacuum to begin building up in the bulb below. When sufficient time has passed, one simply removes the alcohol lamp. The bottom bulb cools quickly, and suddenly all the water is removed from the upper bulb, bringing coffee goodness with it. The coffee is smooth and tasty with almost zero bitterness.
Not made in the States anymore. In fact, not sure where it's made now. Last time I saw one was in a VERY high end restaurant.![]()

The "moka pot" method is what I think that it's called. I saw something like this a few years ago, made by some company called 'Wolf' or 'Wolfe', IIRC but I can't seem to find that one anymore... Tony sent me a link to one type, I think, so I'll have to check it out and see. I hear that it works well, and may have to give it a shot too.![]()
Old P....
Do you mean something like this? http://www.bluebottlecoffee.net/coffee/preparation-guide/siphon/
Be sure to click on view steps.
If I had lost this bet I would have sent Jaxx some Blue Bottle coffee. At the Blue Bottle shops what they call the "siphon" method is how the brew coffee. If you want one of the set ups I can ask if I can get one and I'll send it to you. Or anyone else that I know.
.
who makes *the* french press, if there is one clear winner - so to speak?
I want two, actually, a beater I can take camping and something killer for home.
I'm reading about and checking out Espresso machines, but that's several months off...
