jocawalk's Apex thread reminded me about our friend richstag's GIGANTIC generosity!!!

I had started a post about sharpening (and how I really suck at it) last year and richstag offered to send me his Apex Edge Pro kit for free. I didn't feel comfortable about it and asked if I could buy it or send something in trade and he just replied..."Post pics when you get the hang of it."

Well...I have practiced on a couple non-Busse and Busse/SY blades and I haven't been able to master a technique that keeps me from rolling/rounding the tip of the knives out YET (I sent the blades I wasn't happy with to NorCalBlacktail for some convex fixin'). The main and belly EDGES ROCK THOUGH!!!! My Gerber Pro-Guide Caper has NEVER been so SHARP!!! So if I posted any pics...they'd just be of the edges and not entire blades. Just gotta keep working on keeping the tip area from rounding out.

SOOOoooooo, I guess that's the long way of saying THANKS RICHSTAG!!! and Sorry for not posting any pics yet.....I'm still working on it, so give me just a little more time before I feel comfortable enough to take on some INFI again.

You Deserve The Praise and I REALLLLLLLY APPRECIATE the generous gift. As a matter of fact...if anyone wants to try out the Apex Edge Pro before buying one, let me know and I'll send it out for you to try (but I'll need it back so I can keep working on my....um....finesse);)

THANKS AGAIN richstag!!!!

I usually convex my edges, but have thought about puchasing an edgepro after seeing some of the results posted here. I would love to try one out before plunking down the cash, thanks.

Hey Bro, I have one that you could try if the list is a little long. Let me know and I will box it up

Great post, and kudos to Richstag for that generous move.

These are the things that make this place stand out from so many others.

No problem. For the tip thing don't let the stone run off of the tip. Stop before the stone travels all the way off the tip. That should keep your tips looking good. Great idea letting others try it. :)

Hey Yager,

You're up first, just send me you address and I'll try and get it out this week.

richstag... That's probaby it! I'll give it a try when it gets back from Yager!!!

Thanks Doug. I am happy that stump is cool enough to pass along the kindness. That is the best result I could have asked for. Thanks again Stump.

Oh, and BTW, as long as we are passing things on, the stones need to be kept flat. A DMT diamond stone works great for this. I tried the makeshift sand on concrete with not the greatest results. Just FYI to the guys trying this system out :)
