correct me if im wrong, but you said you need one that has corrosion resistance, and youl be using it around water, and from my humble knowledge, tha RAT comes in 1095 carboon steel, which has nothing to do with stainless

was leaning towards it, didnt mean i was settled on it. :) thats the sad thing about being a knife knut; if i had the cash i'd buy the fallkniven, RAT and the barkies :D

the coating is supposed to provide rust resistance (i think?), i just prefer the sheath on the RAT then the one that comes with the fallkniven.

although im sure there are plenty of nice aftermarket sheaths available.

when i bought the f1, i choosed the zytel sheath, didnt really liked the leather one
and yes, all of them is better :D:D:D:D, but also one at a time is ok, as long as we get them

here , some big pics, one next to the CS SRK, and another one after i put some paracord on it

Just my 2 cents. I don't have a RC-4 but I do have an RC-3 and it's a nice knife, but if you want it to cut to it's potential, the coating has to come off, and if you do that, of course, there goes your rust resistance. I really like the sheath with the RC-3, as well.

I also had a Master Hunter in stainless but I wasn't fond of it. I much prefer the RC-3, or Bark River Bravo1 (in fact, I liked the Bravo1 so much, I bought a second one) :D

In your position, with your stated needs, I'd be really thinking about the F1.

As I said, just my 2 cents. :D

I'd go with the F1, for me it sets the standard by which all other similar type knives are judged. Straight in, immaculate standards, always properly sharp from the box. Never seen any kind of evidence to the contrary, anywhere, ever. End of.

That said, you mentioned fishing often so that wouldn't necessarily be the model best for you. If it was mostly outdoor stuff with a bit of fishing thrown in then I'd be looking at the F1, but if you load up more on the fishing aspect the F2 might give you greater utility value. The F2 is VG-10 as opposed to the laminated VG-10 of the F1, but I wouldn't get especially caught up in that. I believe the difference between the laminated VG-10 and the non laminated is going to be way smaller than the difference between VG-10 and some other steels. VG-10 is properly good [plain VG-10 is used on the old Fällkniven A1 too]. Given enough loading on the fishing thing the Fällkniven F2 may well be worth sacrificing the laminated aspect in exchange for a design more tailored to your needs. I don't have one of these, but I suspect it would easily function as great utility knife on land as well.

thanks for the info guys, new graham lists the F1 at $110, is this a good price?

also im still open to suggestions :) are there any others i should look at besides the RAT and the Fallknivens?

hey jack, mind me asking how the quality of the original sheath on that F1 is?

pulled the trigger on a bark river bravo 2.

this is gonna be one sweet birthday :D

cheers dudes, thanks for the inputs.
