Hey U's guys 😎 Ulster's and Utica's let's see them 👍

I love the subtle Bone on this Ulster - somewhat plain in comparison of some of the big hitter Ulsters shown lately- but in it's own right, quite a Knife!

Awesome collection Duncan! You have some pretty unique models. Speaking of which, like on this Craftsman. Is that bail pulling double duty as some kind of pocket clip?

Great idea for a thread, Steve😎, and some real stunners so far. Thanks for sharing them, all.

Some Electricians/Linesmans. Utica on the left, and Ulsters on the right. The Ulster in the middle has a very faint stamp in the wood that I think says USN.

A Hawkbill Kutmaster with the name of a Plumbing Supply house embossed in the the wood.

By the way, black mamba black mamba Jeff, that Craftsman Heavy Skinner belt knife is fantastic!

Ulster Utility, there are a few patterns, 10th Division, Ski Patrol division etc I don't know a lot about them.

Having two examples both without Bails, I am unsure if these were actually specialty forces Knives or Civilians, quite possibly the later, again I am unsure.

Apparently the Mountain Ski Division had the Phillips Screw Driver for the Ski's which had Phillips Screws (in the Bindings?).

The first production came with the Phillips Screw Driver on the Bail and from memory a Sheep's-foot Main, which may have been an option other than a Clip point - or all with the Sheep's-foot I am unsure. These first productions had the Phillips Screwdriver on the Bail, but proved that it could not handle the Torque,so the Phillips became a Folding Utility as the rest on the Knife, and the knives then had Clip Point mains.

I have another Ulster with the Screw driver - but again the non Bail Version.
This Phillips Screw Driver version has the tang stamp, Ulster (over) Knife (over) Co. and because of the additional Screwdriver, this Knife is a 5 "Bladed" Knife instead of the usual 4. This Knife has plain Bolsters and are not threaded as the example pictured below.

Here is one that I suspect is the more hard to get example as the Punch actually has a Liner Lock, not often seen. I remember when talking about this Knife one other member said he had on of these as well, is it our good friend L lambertiana ?

Notice the Bolster Pins being quite untidy- this is common through and makes me wonder that this is a service Knife as Ulster I am sure would not ( and I havent seen otherwise) the Bolsters to be as untidy, and this Knife is untampered with.

Forged USA Stamp, Sears and Roebucks Brand.

Looking at all these great looking ulsters it is hard to believe they were the lesser offering of schrade ,maybe in price but I'm the wrong person to compare them lol.

Aaah ok, great! so my friend, what are your thoughts on the U.S Military / Civilian patterns on these? the 10th division and others that had the Bails had U.S stamped on the Bail as well, but with ours, there is no Bail of course, but I could almost lay money on it that your Bolster Thread line would be as untidy - could you check that please Sir, I remember doing a comparison on line some time ago- in fact there were about a dozen or so in a box that the seller came across, and they all had the same untidy Lines ( Because of the Pin placement & work)..
