HI 20.5" Bonecutter: first impressions

Oh goody. That is splendid. Thank you for the responses. I recently purchased three HI Kuks and I need more. Must have more kuks.

I'm definitely in for one of the new old-style BCs. I have a 16.5" BC/GRS and it's a heck of a chopper for its size (as I'm sure all the other BC/GRSes are)... it's a great design and an awesome khuk in its own right - just not quite what people were expecting for a bonecutter model. Also, if you wanted a more specific time-frame: I contacted Aunty about it a few weeks ago and she said that they should be in before Christmas

I want an "old school" BC. But, I must say I'm very fond of my Murali 12.5 GRS/BC and believe they are a great khuk. It seems very tough and has a great feel. I'd like to see them stay in production if possible. Take care.

jdk1,

I agree, my 16" Murali BC is a very nice kukri. Very balanced and it has what I would consider a "normal" handle that fits me well. Meaning it isn't 1 or 2 inches longer and thicker than the original design. Also, the blade is not overbuilt and the spine thickness is just right.

Even mildly sharp it is a very effective kukri and rose to be one of my favorites very quickly. It gets used almost every day. But, I would also love to add a real BC and Ganga Ram to my collection and compare their performance.

You can imagine the guy that invented the GR was sitting around one evening mending his blisters, got fed up and said, "I'm going out back and making a "real" kukri!" One look at it tells you that kukri isn't playing around.
