Hi all, am I the only one that only sees knives as tools?

Good lord, this thread got weird!

Anyhoo, I sell/trade the knives I don't use because I hate seeing a tool gather dust. Knives are tools and they deserve to be used. I even find knives ugly when they are all shiny and pristine.

They are tools. Beautiful, complex, artful, interesting tools.
That's an understatement brother! Lol

Three-player chess is quite winnable lol but i get your point :)

I know. After 10 minutes of looking for 'impossible chess game' .jpegs I said 'f*** it, close enough'. I want one of those boards now... I'd never try to play it, but it looks beautiful -- uh oh, but then it's not really a 3-player chessboard! ;)

Well, Schrödinger can keep his damn cat... :p

I suppose a pocket knife can also be considered a 'personal effect.' I believe any EDC type item has a certain utility function at its core (ie. wallets, watches, clothing, cell phones, pens, etc.) but when we have a selection, we will personalize our choices. It's the difference between *a* knife and *my* knife... . There are many knives for many purposes.

So nice to have options!

Wait, did somebody say they used the search button.
Actually I hear you on no need to start new threads almost all the answers for the life of knife can be found in the hall of old threads here. I see both sides here they are just tools. Weather they are collected and never used or used and abused. At the end of the end of the day they are still just tools, that the few of us here in this wonderful community find a common ground over.

I'm new but I'll shoot - some knives, like firearms, are exactly that in my eyes: tools. I can appreciate others as works of art, craftsmanship, or just something that you enjoy for w/e reason. Some firearms that have historic value as collectors pieces too that I wouldn't shoot but idk if this applies to knives much. And there are some knives and firearms that I think double as both tools and works of art, ex some semi-custom or custom pieces.

Some people buy every colour of a victorinox model or every opinel number or every mora that comes out. that's fine its called collecting. Me I would buy one of any brand or style just because I am curious but have no interest in collecting for collecting sake.
I used to make wooden self bows. Now I make knives. I realize that I like the process way better than the product.
I dont shoot my bows anymore and seldom use my homemade knives. But I am glad I have them
I definatly have knifes that I never use but if necessary would thrash em all

Well expressed, and welcome to Bladeforums.:)
