HI Christmas gifts!!

I know....but it's done.....and cheaper....:D

I'll make one someday....got too much on my plate already....*sigh*

So, what'd everybody else get? Post pics if you can! I can't, sadly. Oh, well!

After reading about Dans effort to procure a mad bomber hat for his father-in-law, I thought I would like to get one in Muskrat from Cabelas. My son in Dallas came in for Xmas to use the house as his 'base' and let me baby sit his Rottweiler/Chow dog. Randy is not one for buying in advance , he does things on the spur of the moment and asked me what I wanted for Xmas. I mentioned the Muskrat Hat. Well, he decided he would get the 'Beaver Mad Bomber' hat for me. Due in the mail any day now.
If I put a Khukuri Pin on it, does it make it a HI gift? ;)
Besides my son coming to visit and the hat. that is all folks. I'm grateful for that and many other things in my life.

that is great....wish I had been able to find what I wanted...bonus points for Randy.

Isn't the beaver hat about 3 times as much as the muskrat?

Dang....

Randy is a good kid! Kid? He's 38, a CPA , Senor Mgr for a big CPA Co out of Dallas. He meets himself coming in the door at times. When he comes home, he is flitting here and there to catch up with me, his old friends and his Mom. He gets better Xmas dinners at his Moms. ;) . I tried to talk him out of the Beaver and only getting the Muskrat, but he insisted on the Beaver. Yeah, think it was 78 for Muskrat and 159 for the Beaver. . I had received a $30 off Year=end=inventory=reduction credit off next order in the mail. I think the website also had it.
All told with shipping and the $30 off, it came to $152.90.
I was choking on the price , never had a $150 hat, before. I really tried to talk him into the Muskrat which would have been about $50, I think.

Losing more hair every day, not much on top anymore, It will sure keep my head warm and if it gets REALLY cold, keep my ears warm , also. The warmest hat I have is an old cowboy felt hat, I wear frequently. It is over 30 years old and still holds its shape. Used to belong to my Dad, so it has alot of sentimental value. Hard to hang onto when the wind is blowing.

CORRECTION: It is call a Mountain Man Fur Hat.
I ran into a guy in the grocery store wearing a hat that style and he called it a 'Russkie hat' He looked at the worn label and it came from Russia. He was real pleased with his and said it was real warm. He didn't know what kind of fur it was.

Also received a set of linked belts for my drill press. They're supposed to be great for reducing vibration. At least, the people who sell them say so. Now, I'll be able to drill vibrationless holes in the wrong place. A vast improvement.

Aardvark, please let me know how the linked belts work out. Some kind of HD plastic aren't they? I was contemplating a set for a table saw, but it already runs pretty smoothly. However my drill press could use some smoothing up, plus I heard the linked belts last longer. Do you know where your set was purchased?

Thanks for any info!

I should be some kind of angel then. I gave a Kumar kobra to my girlfriend's brother(big into martial arts) and a 16.5" WWII to a dear friend of mine for his birthday. He saw the triangle shaped box and guessed right off. I should have done a better job at altering that telltale shape.
They were both delighted. Sadly, my personal cache of HI products is down to an old shop one AK and a BAS that I've never used.
Expect me to start trolling the UBBB's as they are posted over the holidays.

The Rose is beautiful! And, it's much larger than it looks in pictures. It's really almost a short cutlas, with a hand-and-a-half handle. The handle alone is longer than my Spyderco Native!

And, I was about to throw the box away, when I decided I needed to look through it again. In the warranty envelope, was something heavy...the cutest, teeniest little kukri.

Thanks, Uncle Bill.

From the Cabella's link - the sheared beaver is "...in a classic trooper style." Or maybe mountie (RNWMP?) style.
