Well guys. I have to say i have enjoyed the past 13 yrs on Bladeforums. Ive always had great experiences both selling and buying. My last 2 transactions seem to have put me in bad standings. I was unable to respond to a topic recently posted about me because it was locked. I just want to speak my mind and i will be terminating my account at the end of this post. The last 2 knives i sold i was very excited about the buyers receiving. The 1st knife was an ML Kephart that was new in the box. Unfortunately the package became wet in delivery . Im very sorry this happened but i had no control where the Postman left the package. I have never had a complaint on my packaging in the past but definitely learned proper mailing etiquette from the negative post against me. The 2nd knife was a new Barry Dawson Wardog. I ordered this knife directly from Barry approximately a year ago. The knife has been sitting in a climate controled gunsafe for the past year. Never used or sharpened. The buyer accused me of sharpening the knife and said there was rust and oxidation on the blade. Also that the sheath was torn. This knife was made by Barry to give the look of an old rustic Kabar. It had visible Hamon with a clear cerakote. So with 2 negative transactions in a row it is with a heavy heart im closing my account. It use to be fun guys. But now its like everyone wants drama or to be confrontational. Really dont need this in my life at my age. Hope yall stay safe in this crazy world.

I hope you stay. The previous thread here about the wet package was misguided and apparently started by some one who has a temper and is uneducated on the proper procedure for a deliver courier. His title reflects that . Don't let it bring you down. Does he want a refund and are/where you willing to make it right?

I bought a knife from Tom and didn’t see anything wrong with the packaging at all. It was no different or better than I’ve gotten from dealers or custom makers themselves (and I’ve seen some really bad packing jobs all around).

It was a great transaction, he was nice to chat with and sent a few extra pics that I asked for. (No feedback because I didn’t post in the thread, hopefully this suffices ).

Just two unfortunate incidents in a row, but minuscule when compared to your positive history.
I do agree that one needs to be on high alert these days, the internet players have become way more complicated, especially quite recently.
At least stay until your perscription on runs out! Time to reconsider.

Agreed. I think you should keep your membership at least until it runs out so you have time to reconsider. I would have no problem buying from you.

[Full disclosure: I did post in the locked thread, but it was not meant to be negative.]

I dont know either of you from Adam but if you otherwise have a good selling history, dont be discouraged.

I read the other tread just now.

He drags your name through the mud, even though he himself states, that he is not overly concerned about the packaging itself but more by the 'resulting condition' of the knife - the result of the carrier leaving the package in the open exposed to the elements and said package being soaked.

IMO the buyer is bang out of order.

He should at the very least change the title of his thread (should never have worded it such in the first place).

Ill most certainly avoid doing business with said person.

Hang around Man, you can work on indenting paragraphs if nothing else...
All kidding aside, I stopped doing business here awhile back, let my gold lapse. I am still here but as you said the climate in the exchange can be a bit rough. Plenty of interesting stuff here without involving yourself in the drama.
Dont let them bring you down, lots of good people here that never buy and sell.

No negative feedback score was left, just a lesson learned for everyone.
I read your thread, as well as this one. It's unfortunate that this happened to you and I emphasize.

You overreacted when starting your thread by blaming the seller for the carrier's mistake. Perhaps the seller could have packaged it better, and provided tracking information. Had the package not been left in the rain, I'm betting you'd have been happy with the packaging, though, and that was out of the sellers control.

One way to help make this better might be to edit your thread title and opening post, even if the thread is locked. If you need help, I'm sure that one of the mods here would be willing to provide assistance.

I don't believe that your intention was to run anyone off from here, just as I don't believe that the seller intended for anything other than a good transaction. Sometimes bad things just happen to good people.

He started the other thread - he can edit the title though the thread is locked.

This is how ever not encouraged by the MODs, once the thread is locked.

The OP should have asked a mod to open the other thread to permit his comment(s). This new one will just be a continuation of the one that was closed.

That's why I threw in the suggestion of contacting the mods. They would provide guidance towards an acceptable edit that might help better the current situation

What you did was worse than negative FB. The right thing to do at this point would be for you to go back and take his name off the other thread.
You should be mad at the post office - he did not leave it in the rain and cause the damages. Now regardless, he as the seller would have had to make you whole. Are you saying he did not offer a refund or return?

Unless he did not offer to resolve it for you, the lesson learned through all this is the seller is a good guy and for others to use caution dealing with you.

I understand your frustration with the last 2 transactions, but the forum is not just about the exchange. Stay and enjoy the rest if you no longer want to sell & buy. The exchange is great, but it can be a pain in the butt at times.

As suggested, the title has been changed - but my point OTHER than the poor packaging and subsequent damage thanks to both the seller and USPS that some seemed to have missed is:
1. Everyone else I've dealt with here on BF has let me know when the knife was shipped; this seller did not.
2. Everyone else I've dealt with on BF has usually provided a tracking number; this seller did not.
3. When I specifically requested a tracking number so I could trace the package and meet the USPS delivery, he did not provide one.
4. When I complained to the seller (which should always be anyone's first step and was mine) I got a minimal apology with no offer to make things right.
5. As a result, what was advertised as the knife's and sheath's condition as shown in the photo and what I paid for and received are two different things (I didn't even mention the missing lanyard until now)
6. As I posted, this whole deal went so far afield from all my other experiences on BF over the last 11 years or so, that I felt it ONLY FAIR that should say something. I've tried to keep it factual. 'Nuff said.

"Temper? I don't trust a knife or a man that doesn't have one . . ."
