HI Karambit

Berkley,
It looks huge on your picture. What are the dimensions? Can I hang it from my neck?
Thank you.

It's really not a neck hanger. It is thick and heavy, and larger than a typical neck knife.

In answer to your other point, like most HI blades it is designed to be a workhorse as well as for self-defense. In other words, not just a ripper like most non-HI karambits. It could be used for whittling, as a draw-knife (carefully because of the spine swedge near the tip), and other purposes. I'd say it is pretty much unbreakable, and small enough for just about any kind of carry except perhaps as a neck hanger.

Thanks

Still have to put up the murrali bonecutter, bura pen knife and my r10

but still not bad considering I got my first one last September

What size is your neck?

I think it's doable :)just think of what Mister Ts neck is holding. But I doubt that it is well concealed (the only reason why I would wear one around the neck). My heaviest neck knive is 74g (spyderco matriarch)

So it looks to be slightly longer than Kagas in length but much beefier. Seems it would be very comfortable to use the Cho to rest your trigger finger in and thumb on top of spine. Is that how they are intended to be used? Little finger in the hole? Very cool EDC potential! Does HI make sheath for these?

will def be sharking for all the great knives i have seen over the past month, man, I got to have them all ! I especially love the indo persian and asian archipeligo knives :D karambit is a must have ! also need all bowies ( zombie noises)

Ndoghouse,
I like to grip it reverse and put the index finger through the hole.
It great if you are already trained in punching and blocking motions. Just add the karambit so it sticks out of your fist and the same techniques create much more mess.

Leather sheath comes with the HI Karambit, at least it comes with all the ones I've seen posted here and elsewhere (except possibly for the one pictured by Berkley above with kydex sheath).

There are several ways to hold the Karambit. Depends in part on your hand size. For my hand, the strongest grip is the one you describe, but in that position my little finger is in front of the hole. Very tight grip, since the metal around the hole acts as a backstop for the outer edge of my hand. Or I can back up my hand and put the little finger through the hole. Or reverse grip, as Jens mentions, with index finger in the hole.

The choked-up grip that you describe would probably be best for whittling and fine work. I wouldn't want my finger in the cho if I were using the knife as a fighter. Too close to the edge for a possibly uncontrolled situation, even though the grip feels secure.

Ahhh! I had is bass ackwards! You could make a right mess of someone with it that way! Yowwwwwie! The mechanics make a lot more sense now. Thanks Jens!

Gotcha David. I was thinking more for general everyday utilitarian use but the reversed way Jens describes would be a fighting grip. Still...Gnarly!!! I want one!

I checked with Auntie and she does not have any of these in stock. She said she will have some made up after holiday over there.
Said things are improving and Kami's are working hard on finishing up previous orders. Hoping things continue to improve and things go well for her and them.

Also reinforced my burning desire for Micro Mini AK Bowie. Now I'm kind of torn between small Karambit or Bowie. Both of course someday. That's a given right?

YAY! I was wondering if I'd ever see a karambit from HI with my own eyes. But if they're making a run I'm definitely interested. As for various blades they're like happy meal toys. Choppy (khukuri), Stabby (Bowie) and Slashy (Karambit). Buy enough Reno newspapers and you get the complete set!

Natures own Karambits! This guy decided one day that he wanted a grackle for lunch and was happy and content about eating it right in front of the camera!

These pics were taken through a window. I guess he knew it! One bad arse Raptor!

Beautiful creatures! Oh... Its a Red Tail Hawk btw.

I hate it so bad when you make me look dumb but what's a grackle? Feathered undoubtedly but I never heard of anything being called a grackle before.

My spidy senses tell me it probably taste like chicken. Original recipe I'm thinking but that's just a guess and I got nothing solid to back that up.

That would make sense Bawanna. They are only found east of the Rockies. Consider yourself lucky luck lucky! 77777 I thought they were everywhere! They are black almost blue black birds similar to crows in size etc. They are loud and plentiful. They nest everywhere in the hundreds of thousands and billions. They crap all over the place and can be annoying pesky birds. Never park your car under a tree where they reside. They can change the color of your car in seconds! I was walking across the parking lot to the grocery store one day and saw a tree with more grackles than leaves and got the bright idea to kick the tree trunk to see them all take flight at once. Well it worked! That was prolly the dumbest idea I ever had (after a few beers). You might say I scared the crap out of all of them at the same time. Needles to say I had to go back to the car while my wife shopped! Watching that Red Tail Hawk gave me a certain pleasure I cannot explain:D:D:D:D:D! Wish they did taste like chicken id have a lot more Khukri money!

That's one of the saddest stories I ever heard tell of. I suspected an unhappy ending the moment you thought of kicking that tree.

I once again feel very blessed that we don't have grackle's around these parts. We got a few arial poopers but not usually an issue.

We've had them in Northern California for the past three or four years. They arrived in hordes and suddenly were everywhere, driving away many native species, cawing at each other like maniacs, pooping all over. This year the bluebirds started returning, probably a faster subspecies that can survive in the midst of the grackle thugs. I like the bluebirds. Hate the grackles.

I was happy to see that hawk lunching on a grackle. Wish we had more hawks and fewer grackles. I'd love to use them for target practice, but you can only get a clear shot at them when they perch on power lines, which is not a real good thing to shoot at. Besides, this isn't Texas and I would end up in jail, or at least paying a fine.

Is there such a thing as the opposite of an endangered species? Ah, there is: invasive species. Grackles should be put on that list, along with Burmese pythons in Florida, wild pigs in the South, and those tick thingies that carry Lyme Disease.
