HI Karambit

I would like to point out what could be the main reason the grackles took over the west is because of the miracle grow poison seed incident -- were millions of native birds died because of poison birdseed and the company that did it decided it would be more cost effective to just put out the seeds and kill the birds rather than absorbing the cost of a recall when it came to non human life ( where there just is no law that would punish them)

hence millions and millions of california and western usa native songbirds died, some may have gone extinct in those areas, this may or may not have to do with grackle invasion

we can't blame it all on human error. You can't rule out that the native birds weren't simply out-competed and displaced by the grackles. Any number of uncontrollable factors like global climate change, increased predation, or even an avian pandemic could've been in play here, making it impossible to prove that it was just the poison birdseed that was responsible.

I should be a lawyer for haliburton or bp or something...

Hold your head up son, nobody should hate themselves bad enough to want to be a bottom feeding lawyer.

Your better than that. I'd live under a bridge before I stooped that low.

Haliburton and BP are already lawyered-up, but I'm sure they'll take all the extra help they can get. Especially BP, which might be in court for the rest of their existence over the Gulf oil disaster. I almost said "rest of their lives," but even though a corporation is legally a person, I don't think it is legally alive. I'd love to see the U.S. Supreme Court debate that question.

I'd be happy to blame the grackle invasion and decline of other bird species on a seed company, but at least in my area it seems improbable. The grackles are just too big and aggressive, and I've seen them attacking smaller birds. My brother-in-law on the East Coast told me the same thing.

Other birds being out-competed seems the best explanation, but why the grackles have multiplied so much is another question. I suspect "global climate change," which favors some species and allows them to spread to new areas. In the past two or three years we've had stick insects on my block, which I never saw in the past. And I haven't had to wear a coat for the longest time.

If climate change is caused by human activity (industry) then at least there is some hope of controlling it through international efforts. If climate change is not caused by human activity then we can look forward to dire days for civilization in the next few decades. So let's hope that the general consensus in the scientific community is correct, and the political/economic leaders wake up before all the world's agricultural land dries up and disease-carrying insects migrate from the equator to the formerly-temperate zones.

Methinks this convo belongs in the cantina lol.

But the karambit is cool. Would look boss with a bone handle and maybe a backslash.

Edit: oh they do have backslashers.

yeah was slightly off topic :D but I did say "may or may not be responsible for grackles" -- KARAMBITS

Right cE That was probably my fault! Sorry folks. I do have an on topic question if someone can help? How long is the blade? In Texas length has to be no longer than 5 1/2 inches to carry. Being nine plus inches OAL it seems like it would be very near or maybe over my edc limit. I may need a smaller one otherwise (Grackle Karambit!) but the shape would be very nice in the front pocket with ring sticking out. Bone would be awesome.

It's 4" blade here in Washington. Hence my burning desire for a Micro Mini Bowie soon to be know as the Bawanna Bowie.
But same rule would apply to a karambit although I don't want to name it the Bawanna karambit, naming two knives after myself would just be conceited and selfish. I minute of fame is plenty for any half man such as myself.

Perhaps we can call it the ndoghouse karambit, kind of rolls off the tongue don't it?

Who did the kydex sheaths seen here? I've had mine drop out of the sheath twice, so far so having something that holds it is a plus

My mistake also. I posted earlier in another thread in the Cantina, got mixed up when the subject here meandered to grackles and thought this was the Cantina. Never mind.

The karambits have backslashers but they're not very sharp. At least not the ones I've seen. But you can make them as sharp as you like with a little work.

Beautiful pix and collection, thank you all for sharing

I don't know about anyone else, imagine we're all the same but I feel just a little better every time you make a post Auntie.
Just kind of lets me know all is ok and right with your world or at least your little part of Reno at the very least.

Probably why I so anxiously await the DOD's even when I'm poor. Same deal, all is well.

Thank you.
