Wow, everyone got started early! As I write this it is 2245 hrs on Friday. I need to get some sleep as soon as I finish this! See all of you on Saturday 0900 sharp!

Home 9:45 PM Pacific time.

Uncle, tell Yvsa, Barb, and Dave to let me know by email when they'll come thru ( if they come back this way ) so I'll be sure to be offline so my phone rings. If they can't figure go to the light, turn right, go to the stopsign, turn left, turn right on West 3rd and look for my truck, on the right halfway down the block, the number is 945-2575. Night.

PS: will post a bit on the Sat. part of the Khonv. in the morning. I know it says morning EDT, but on PDT it aint morning til I get up.

OK, it's not really what you'd think of as a convention. More a face to face version of the cantina with everyone drifting in and out, a couple guys in the corner discussing something and another guy or two listening, some people returning to the tables picking up and fondling khuks, another 4 or 5 sitting at table half kicking back and listening or talking as the mood strikes.

Very much a sense of Peace and harmony, very restful and restorative spiritually. Wasn't an ounce of pretention in that room. People were just what they seem on the forum, except being face to face added another dimension. Very much a bunch of caring, accepting, respectful of others, people.

If you want to imagine being there, be sure to kick off your shoes first to put you in the right frame of mind.

Gotta take the family out to breakfast.

As I write this on Sunday morning, about 1112 hrs. I can't stop thinking about yesterdays gathering. I was only able to stay for that day and boy was it cool. Meeting everyone face to face was an expierience that I won't forget. Many pictures were taken and I tried to keep my video camera going as well. Imagine tables of Khukuris! I had fun talking with everyone. It was nice to see any conversations going on. You could see Uncle talking in on group while Dave K, Vikash, and myself discussing various Khukuri techniques.

Yvsa put razor edges on my Barong and Kris

, thanks! Also, I'd like to thank everyone at Himalayan Imports for everything! Without them all of us wouldn't be here. Last but not least, Yangdu and Chopka looked awesome in their traditional Nepal dress! Hopefully some pictures will be posted soon!

Reading about the great time you all are having has gotten me all fired up about the Florida get-together. I certainly hope it does happen because I'm really, really looking forward to it!
By the way, how many Band-aids have been used? I'm assuming that with all those super-sharp khuks there's bound to have been an accident or two.

Nothing all the afternoon yesterday that I saw. On the other hand I wouldn't have noticed if anyone made a sudden trip to the rest room to avoid having others notice them treating the wound that didn't happen. They were all honest folks. If you caught them with a new bandaid, or even just asked them, they'd fess up, they'd just not volunteer the info if it didn't come up.

You know guys, I don't recall seeing anyone with cuts? One thing I learned is that Yvsa is the man for sharpening! He put scary edges on some of my blades (Barong, Kris, and my CRKT Crawford/Kasper folder). The edges would pop of the hair on my arm without touching the skin! I looking at one of Yvsa's Ang Khola, and this baby had an awesome edge, plus a nice polish on the beveled area. Man it was fun!!!!!

Hey Rusty, that Tomahawk you brought was awesome! I forgot to ask you how much it costs? Nice to see and talk to you in person!

Yvsa's Cuz does the forging, but doesn't sell them. That would turn fun into work. I guess he makes about 8 or a dozen rough forgings of the head at a time and then finishes one at a time as he feels like it. So you can't pay him to do it in money.

On the other hand, I'm not sure how it was done, but he suddenly decided he needed an 18th Century that Yvsa showed him ( oddly enough it happened that I wanted a hawk more than an 18th Century. Even more oddly, the 18th Century he just happened to lust after was was mine ). VBSEG

Yvsa then went and picked a forging that had the right spirit for me. Then Yvsa took the head and handled it and made the sheath. And decorated it beautifully as you saw. I was awed. And complimented also that Yvsa chose a pure fighter with the spirit you felt in it.

Talk with Yvsa, it may be that his Cuz would go for an Indonesian keris with a good spirit and nice pamor. If I could make a khukuri or hawk I would be pleased to see it go to someone like you. I'd know it would be treated with reverence for the spirit in it.

When I got to know you in person, I found that ( unsurprizingly from your posts on the forum ) you were a very special person. But everyone there was a very special person, and I guess maybe I am too, as unlikely as it seems to me. Namaste, Ray.

I have some pix but they are not so good. I hate that digital camera. Should have got a better one. I am going to post pix and start a new thread of the convention. This one is too long.

The convention was typical HI -- Quality before quantity. What a great bunch!!!!!

And no cuts.
