High End Carry Knife

Here is my daily "HEC", a Perceval L-10

And because some people like to see proof of use...

Admittedly I don't run my knives as hard as some people but my L-10 has seen daily use for the past year. I bought a second one in CF but ended up swapping scales because I didn't want to ruin the gorgeous Mozambique Ebony scales on the original.

Whats with that HTM on this guys CR post? Personally I find the Madd Maxx or whatever they re called hideous! I wouldn't take one if you gave one to me! IMO just a crap design!! Are they made in China?

It's not a CR post. It's a "HEC" or High End Carry post, and Charlie Mike posted his $495 HTM.

You would have done well to post your HEC instead of being a dick, IMO.

LOL!! Thanks for that.:D And it is a HEC post that includes more than the CRK products. I've already mentioned that my HEC are 2 different LionSteel SR-1's. Though I would absolutely love to see a Sebbie 25 with the wood inserts, and though I have NO idea I would think that this will eventually happen, and I will get in that line!!

Here's another one...doesn't get much carry but... $400 hand signed D/A Spyderco Vallotton.

I have a Sebbie 25, but it just sits there gathering dust for now. I'm very comfortable with my LBS Zaan (thank God I can close it) and several large Sebbies that I have here. The 25 is pretty stiff yet, and in closing it, I often nick my thumb or whatever's left. I don't really want to adjust the pivot; feel that I should break it in as is. Probably sooner or later, with some exercise, it will be smoothen out and join my carry lineup. I agree that this is a HEC post, and there are quite a few good candidates...other than CR products. I'm very fond of my Grayman DUA. I foolishly sold the first one. It really fills the gap, size-wise, between the small and large Sebenza. It's very smooth and uses the same pivot design, licensed from Chris Reeve. I've included a pic.
The pic shows the orange Dua, a small Seb and a Three Sisters Forge Beast (another excellent choice). The Beast (in my case) comes with M390 and is a good heavy-duty choice like the Dua.

At $495...

That's alot of money for a ruler Matt, even a nonskid one, how much for the DDR? ;)

I should have this in my pocket after Independence Day. WT T-rex. Getting it for a helluva deal at $430.

It only gets carried once a year.

This one gets carried much more often.

As does this.

These all catch some pocket time.

I just received this one a few weeks ago. Within the past few months i've become somewhat of a fanboy when it comes to Tim's work, but I guess there are worse things to be:D

This thing is effing sexy. Details please?

Large Granite by Carson Technology Laboratory. 3.5" stonewashed Nitrobe 77 blade, bead blast integral Ti framelock handle with heat striped pattern, stainless steel lockface insert, and LBS, tip up Ti clip. It flips nicely on some very thick Phosphor bronze washers.

It's sick, brother. How much did she run? And what's the steel like? Comparable to anything a bit more mainstream?

...sorry to thread highjack... oops.

$850

I can't compare the steel to much of anything. I know that the heat treat process is supposed to be very time consuming and involved so it isn't used much. Des Horn is a South African maker and one of the first to use this steel, he says he's never worked with a similar steel.

Again no pics, but another high end (at least for me) that I carry when I want to go small, and I really do enjoy it, is my Fallkniven PXL with maroon micarta scales. The knife is as smooth an opening knife as I've ever had, along with fit and finish that rivals many customs. Just a great carry and cutter.

Charlie Mike, that Spyderco Vallotton auto refit looks amazing! I have the regular Spyderco Vallotton and it also makes a great carry.

I posted in the "EDC" post that is forever on-going, so I'll post here as well - My recent favoritie EDCs also happen to be high end

Here's a photo. sorry it's a bad cell phone picture...and yes - the blades are dirty.

From left to right:
1. Hubertus Stag auto Camper (I just got this - love it..its a real one, from Germany - fit and finish is outstanding)
2. Lone Wolf Harsey D2 D/A
3. Microtech SEAL Scarab
4. Al Mar SERE 2000 D/A - Vallotton auto conversion scale release
5. CR Insingo dual-stud

My Zaan does about anything I need done.
But lots of nice pics above. Thanks.
