High End SAK?

So I've been thinking about SAKs again. And Victorinox is pretty awesome, but curiosity has lead me to wonder if there are any manufacturers or custom makers who make a high end variant of an SAK. Better steels (maybe varying steels based off of the tool in the knife), better quality materials for the scales and so on.

If anyone has heard of something similar to that, I'd love to hear about it! And if not I'll probably pick up a Victorinox Cadet.

There's a guy on bay who makes some very nice ones and I can't remember his name..,I've seen some pop up here every now and then.., they have TI scales and a lot of different high end stuff going on, try the search box for SAK, they may pull up..

For handles there are dozens of custom makers that do scales in wood, micarta or Titanium.
Factory scales you can have in wood, horn, stag and sterling silver.

Regarding tool steel, it's a bit trickier as it changes the knife itself... I do know of two modders who put Spyderco blades in saks.
Factory-wise the only "stronger" steel used is on the Damascus blades...

I consider Tuna Valley kind of "high end" and some time back their scout knife was offered.

ALM Knives makes titanium scales for SAK.

Boker has a fairly new line of Tech-Tool which are SAKs with G-10 or CF scales, clip and Sandvik 12C27 steel.

There's a new SAK maker in the market known as Swiza, and they claim to use 440 steel.

Maybe I will have to then. It'll give me something to do!!

SAK customizers that come to my mind:

- Robert Lessard

Seconded. I have been carrying this Pioneer X for a few months now, and it has worked as desired. The damasteel blade holds an edge longer than the normal Victorinox stainless, and touches up quickly with ceramics. It's just as stainless, as I don't care for it differently than any other SAK, and there's no discoloration. The rest of the knife is your standard Victorinox quality, which is to say it's great.

It is quite the tricky blade to get a hold of.

I wonder if any SAK customizers would be willing to add a saw, awl and scissors to that G Sakai (or if it is really even feasible).

The recent Boker Tech-Tool line in some ways can be thought of as an upgraded SAK iteration when you consider the Sandvik 12C27 blades and the choice of carbon fiber or G10 scales (in two colors). Considering the country of origin, it's also a pleasant surprise that they exhibit workmanship comparable to Victorinox or the late Wenger. That being said, it's a pity Boker chose not to include the usual toothpick and tweezers. I also feel the off-beat secondary serrated blade is not as well thought out as it perhaps should have been. A Victorinox-style combination can opener and small screwdriver blade might've proved more useful. (A Wenger/Leatherman-style can opener blade would have been a step backward IMHO.)
