That is the Hiker`s Backup with wharncliff blade. The woods I have coming are Tiger maple, rosewood, walnut, bloodwood, and some different dymondwoods- chestnut, walnut, cocobolo. If there is a special wood you are looking for, just let me know.

Those are awesome, I'm very interested. I emailed you about the handle options (IE, no handle material). Looking forward to working something out. I've been on the hunt for a small game knife and these look great.

Hope to hear from you soon,

I would be interested in a backup with no slabs as well. If you work out a deal, would you be willing to offer it to all of us?

I've got one on order! John has been great to work with so far. I saw this post about an hour ago and we've already worked out a design and pretty much finalized everything. What timing...

My order was pretty basic. 3" Hikers Backup Clip Point with three holes in the handle. One at the top and two at the bottom about 1/4" apart. Those three holes will leave a lot of wrapping options.

This is actually my first custom knife. I'm looking forward to it!!

Price for either knives with no handles, (3 holes for wrapping) will be $60 plus $7 shipping. With no handles and no sheath, it would be $50 plus $7 shipping.

TFin04, this is your first custom and you are starting w/ a JK knife? Congrats and condolences 'cause you will be back and again and then another and...:D

Is it bad that I'm already thinking about giving this knife to a friend of mine on our camping trip coming up and ordering a new one when I get home?

I go through my knife phases just like everybody else. I've been stuck on Spyderco for the past few years and have really been lacking in the small fixed blade department. If John's knife is half as good as his service, I will surely be a repeat customer.

It is. His stuff is awesome. He is a great guy with a great product.

You will be back for more...........

That's how it starts;). The upside is that you get to have input into what you want and get to know some good people/makers like John here on BF.

Any chance you could post a photo of some of the different wood selections when you get them?

The wood should be here today or tomorrow, I will post some pics. As it stands right now, I only have an order for 1 of these. If no more orders come in I won`t be doing a run so I don`t have to order more bladestock, I`ll just make the 1.

John

Here is the wood. From left to right we have 3 dymondwoos - cocobolo, chestnut, and walnut. Then rosewood, maple, and bloodwood.
