Himalayan imports are customs and need their own for sale section

Actually, Cougar, and we probably need to double check this with Yangdu, I believe that HI now has a warranty only for the original purchaser. IIRC, Yangdu was getting too many blades back from people that bought them second hand with scratches and dings, only to break them on purpose to get a new knife. How on earth you could break a khuk, even on purpose, I have no idea. The exception to the rule is if you give it as a gift. Now, I have no idea how Yangdu tracks her inventory. I highly doubt she has a little black khuk book that tells her that this AK went here and that Siru went there, so honesty is part of the policy. I guess if you wanted to cheat a nice lady, you probably could. Also, there are gray areas that are usually addressed on a case by case issue.

Long story short, the unconditional warranty was being abused by people that treated their khuk like a SAK, and I BELIEVE it is now a conditional warranty that falls very much in favor of the customer. Once again, Yangdu or Nasty have the final and gory details on this.

HI has made it very clear they warrant their knives unconditionally and none of that "only for the original purchaser" copout.

As of Jan. 3 in an email I recieved from Yangdu, they only warranty the original buyer. I will forward you the email if you PM me.

ok...but that still does not settle the question, I understand most of the positions people have taken, however those that it affects need to be heard those that it does not affect should have a voice, but not a loud one

so back to the issue ( I know I am being kind of pushy )

If we can get a ruling from management to have a sub forum or to be clear that these can be called customs so we will post them there then we can conclude the matter.

Yes, Azis, and obtuse as well.

Now...one last time: Put them in custom if you wish to.

I know you have several for sale...how's that going anyway? The rucus over this probably has not hurt the attention given your sale.

Finally, as far as I know, no one has asked Yangdu her opinion on any of this...I have *no* say over anything to do with Yangdu's business. All I do is hit the ban button when problems arise, and Cougar can reverse that if and when he wishes.

"I know you have several for sale...how's that going anyway?"

I have sold 3 karambits and one trusal

I will put the next batch in custom, I think some sort of announcement should be made maybe in the cantina so everyone will know.

Nothing wrong with a little “ruckus” now and then we did get some people posting and sharing their thoughts and that’s always a good thing.

I agree yangdu needs to be asked what she thinks, I still would be willing to do it

No advertising is allowed in the Cantina...you know that.

I believe that you are having fun with the whole process...

not at all and I didn't mean for it to be advertising just a clarification that HI are considered custom which has been a confusing issue and now that we have some guidance it could be made clear. Its just a suggestion

For the record I have been a serious and a major buyer of HI for many years and plan to keep doing that this is not a joke for me

Also to be considered is what Yangdu says...such second-hand sales would effectively compete with her sales. Who's to say that I don't shark an item one day and offer it for a healthy profit the next?

Gotta all be thought through.

Good points Nasty,I can see what you mean & Ive only sold just over 400 kukri & a couple of hundred other knives & swords & they were nearly all antique & mostly private sales ,so not particularily relevant to BF but i realy do study the kukri markets both old & new & I think resales of a product inhance intial sales & indeed price & value.

Thats how it works in the car industry as well, I understand. No or poor resale opportunities destroys value & primary sales.

Just my 2 pennyworth, for what its worth.

cheers,

good post

I have read the post several times and really think the point is valid. People that resell HI if the product is sold at bought price or a higher price are helping the brand itself. Its true for any product that prices go up with demand. Lets face it HI are unique and should increace in value add to that the attitude of the company and the fans and you have something special.

PS it works for busee and they proove it everyday.

Now someone sells a HI for whatever reason--I think to buy other ones ----and they have trouble getting their items seen, or for whatever reason they take a long time to sell. Most people will start to lower the price, all you have to do is look in the sales forums at any brand and see thats the truth.

So what happens overall...it isn't hard to see thats not good for everyone the company, the owners who believe their pieces will hold their value, and the image of a unique product.

The agreement to place them in the custom section I think is very helpful to everyone and is a great start that I for one am very happy about. They belong there by their very nature and I think it will help their value.

I think that one thing that no one has talked about is part of the problem for all brands and their share of being seen is the pure high volume of traffic. So many sell ads and so many lookers And commenters crowded into one place is like a fire in a mall filled with people and only one exit.

Maybe the rule adjustment will have some effect.
