Hinderer Bowie vs slicer

Oh, he said profile though. And no problem. More info. is good. ;] Especially photos.

Turns out I have one more question.. Ti finish... Does the battle bronze scratch up to reveal bare ti? Anyone have a worn in battle bronze finished knife to share in photo?

I like the battle bronze finish, but with use I have a feeling the bare Ti keeps it's original look better...

Thanks again for any help!

I carry this one all the time. I can't tell where use shows on Hinderers. Not nearly as much as other knives I've owned anyway.

Look at the pic's I've posted, I carry that one a lot.

OM, I wasn't sure if yours was bronze or not. Looks different in a few of them.. I'm going to take a look again.

Jill, that looks great. Little wear yet, been taking it easy on it?

I bought the XM 18 Bowie and liked it so well, I got a 24 and then traded for 18 in skinner. They pretty much cured me of buying more knives, because I like them so much.

Ti finishes...No personal experience w/ the battle bronze/blue yet. But do know DLC, Bronze, Blue, Green ano and Working Finish on XM knives I use/have used...

The plain Ti rarely if ever shows through, it takes a lot to wear thru the finishes.

I do have some visible scratches and even a few shiny spots on a DLC user. And anything that scratches / gouges the "standard" stonewashed finish will also scratch and gouge the anodized knives.

Windex can bring back some freshness once the anodized finishes dull a bit from carry/use.

I also have a Sandblasted and bronze ano XM w/ a copper bead on it. The copper bead has rubbed onto the knife a bit over time because it's a softer material.

I don't care about any of this, and if you'r going to use them..."you" really shouldn't care either.

N2K, yes I will be using it. That's why I'm curious. If the bronze is just ano, I know how it will turn out. I have plenty Ti knives with worn ano. I prefer plain Ti or stonewashed due to how ano wears.

I guess I was partially asking how the bronze finish is applied or what kind of finish it is...

Thanks for your response. Not sure which final finish and scale color I'm leaning towards...

The bronze finish is anodized!

Ok, wasn't sure.

Getting closer... now scale color and that is easy since I can buy any color....

is the scale size and shape the same for all xm-18s? In other words, can the scales be swapped with ease among all XM-18s?

I thought it was obvious the blue and bronze, etc..even on battle finish was anodized.

Anyway...XM G-10, C/F, etc scales fit on the non-locking side and are exchangeable....And can also be replaced with full Ti. 3" scales fit 3"XMs and 3.5 scales fit 3.5s and so on.

Btw... Not all XM scales in any material are easily obtainable. For example the Pond Scum G10 or Baby Poop G-10, etc.

Wow, that says a lot. You have a great collection of folders...that's always been growing!

Thought a few comparison pics with other popular blades may help too...3.5 bowie with Spyderco Military and Emerson CQV 7A

And with a Strider Sng

Interesting to me that although the Sng point is finer, the Hinderer feels more acute. Maybe due to drop point vs. bowie shape?
