Hinderer or Harsey?

I was able to get a Harsey like new for 287.00 at that price its a steal. I carried it for almost 2 weeks after I got it, I happen to be carrying it now. I personally cannot see paying 460.00 for it or the hinderer for 425.00 .

Spanto is probably the default that everyone will tell you, though I'm not a huge fan of it (admittedly I've never used one, so keep that in mind). I've had/have a skinner, slicer, spearpoint, and tanto harpoon, and while I like all of them I'd probably lean towards spearpoint or slicer because they are just good general purpose blades.

Thanks guys. At 460.00 the Harsey and its problems are too much of a gamble. XM-18 it is....what blade though?

Good call! If you could handle the Harsey in person it might be a different story.

There are lots of blade shapes for the xm18. A personal favourite of mine is anything with a harpoon. Other than that I love the Spanto. If I got an XM I would most like to try the Spanto as it is fairly unique.

Then you have a continuum of blade shapes going like this; Spanto - Spearpoint - Slicer. It you look at these grinds side by side you will notice that the Spearpoint is like an intermediate grind that looks like a Spanto and a Slicer grind had a kid.

I am also a fan of their wharncliff style, but like the skinner grind even more. I love that scimitar/dao blade shape!!!!!

The bowie knife I always found abit ugly, that's just me though.
