hinderer xm-18 and sebenza comparison (warning, bad for your wallet)

Awesome! I love the orange, have a scale just like the sebbie's on my umnumzaan.

Those Hinderer's are very tempting... must... resist...

CRs and Hinderers make a great team.

I have a full sized XM-18 and a Small Regular Seb.

Great knives! thanks for sharing. and you're right they do make an awesome team. How sweet would a collaboration be??

Which of those two knives do you tend to carry more?

Dude- I was just telling another forum member that yesterday- I'd love to see a collaboration between Hinderer/Reeve. Both seem open to the idea of collaborations from past creations. Can't imagine what that one would look like but I'd love to see it!

Loving all the pics. Man so many Sebs and xm-18s in one thread it's far too glorious to stare too long! lol

Digging the family of orange. The inlay-ed Seb must feel left out!

Nice pics by all! I have been trying to find a 3" xm-18 for a reasonable price for a long time now. It does seem like a great hybrid edc. Though, I think it will be tough to beat out the Reeve blades.

Love the orange and titanium look. How has the action on the Sebenza been since you swapped out the titanium for G10?

Why not bring in the big guy (the Umnumzaan)?

Reeve Small Sebenza and Hinderer 3" XM-18 is a great combination. Pretty much go anywhere do anything.

I am not sure I really understand the blade profile on the XM-18. Is the blade a tanto-ish thing? Some close-ups of the blade tips comparing the two would be nice.

Thanls. I know its name but that's about it. :)

I would like to see some pictures comparing the two to get a better idea of how they may cut.

Well i can tell you right now, even without pictures, the spanto tip and whole blade for that matter, on the XM-18 is noticeably thicker than the sebenza, IMO. The XM-18 is definitely designed and "overbuilt" for hard use. Not that the sebenza is not a tough knife, but the XM-18 is a beast, especially the 3.5". The "spanto" tip is designed to have a similar cutting ability of a spearpoint while maintaining the strength of a tanto tip.

The Sebenza and even the thicker bladed Umnumzaan, as you likely know are a little bit more of slicers. If i needed to cut thick rope, or chop and pry something in an emergency, i would reach for the XM-18. If i needed to break down cardboard or even slice an apple, i'd go with my sebenza.

Both are awesome! I've always found my sebenza to be a little bit more practical for EDC. But there is definitely something comforting about having an XM-18 in your pockeT!!!
