Hinderer XM18 stop pin question

I just purchased a new xm 18 skinner and noticed the stop pin has a sleeve over it. This sleeve is loose and rattles when the blade is locked out. I was wondering if anyone has this issue with their knife?

I don't believe a new 450 dollar knife should have this problem.

Would like to hear from others on this.

Thank you for your information.

Thanks Jill for the information. I purchased this form an authorized Hinderer dealer. I have Chris Reeve knives and was disappointed in the XM18. Thanks for your help.

I have a gen 4 XM 18 3.5 Bowie blade, if the pin on mine is sleeved it is a perfect fit I have no wiggle room at all. Rock solid. I wouldn't hesitate to send it in if your troubled by it , they have great customer service

2nd gen xm 3.0. Straight from the factory. Solid pin, for what it's worth.
My pin only goes 7/8 of the way across, so may be different construction than on a 3.5?

Foofie thanks for your response
and I believe it is nice to thank those who take time to respond.

I have two gen 4 3.5" XM18's with the new stop pin location and they both have loose sleeves that rattle. I've sent them 3 messages on their website, but never got a reply...... I purchased both of these knives new from authorized dealers a few months apart and they are different grinds(slicer and skinner), so I thought it was normal because they are definately not from the same batch. Unfortunately it sounds like this is not the norm and it is very annoying for $450 knives to rattle. Any others with this issue? My slicer rattles when its closed and opened, skinner grind only does it when its opened. Also, is there another way to contact them? I am very disappointed that I haven't gotten a response from them, not sure if the site isn't working right?

Dj Mundle...did you ever get your issue resolved?

Thanks in advance.

Mine (early Gen 4 )seems solid as well, but have not taken it apart yet. It's an internal stop pin, so the pin itself could be moving, rather than a sleeve. I think your best bet would be to Email Rob Orlando with your concern.

Peter,
Thanks for the response! I can actually see the sleeve moving side to side on the stop pin so I'm pretty sure thats the issue. Could you message me his email by any chance? I haven't had any luck using Hinderer's contact page on their site. Unless Im just being ignored lol, but I'm guessing not since everyone is praising their customer service.

Thanks

I thought about it and they most likely do it like CRK, so they can increase the size when needed without drilling. The liner and lockside are most likely suppose to press in on it to solid it up.
Sent you the Email I had

I did some quick research, and there are certainly others with the rattling problem. I could not determine sleeve or not, but you will know if you take it apart-most are calling it a stop pin. Sounds like it is moving in the end holes. The home remedy is to take it apart and put a drop of lock tight(don't know them by heart, but lowest adhesive)to the end of the pin. This is what those that are bothered by it are doing-many are not bothered.
