Hip replacement time

Kis, thanks for the info. It helps a lot. How long was it before your were able to ride in a car? And you can believe I'll take your advice and have the best Mexican, Italian, Seafood meal I can find...with all the trimmings, before and after the meal. :)

It took me 2months to drive. But u have to be careful how u get in and out.Usually it takes 3 months, the physical therapist will show u how to move and I found a job right after that.;) :D :)

Thanks for the info, Frank. Looks like they're going to have to get along without me at school for a while.

Ben,
I wanted to ask you before--did the kindergarten graduation have speeches from the valedictorian and salutatorian? Maybe a 'thanks for the memories' slideshow? I'm still trying to picture it. First time I graduated was high school. Granted, we probably weren't that much more mature...

Within reason, push it. The more you do, the sooner you recover. And your brain NEEDS something other than the healing to think of.

At least try and have fun with it. Get some friends to carry you in on a stretcher or gurney...and tell the class you're not accepting excuses for late assignments unless they're on an IV.

Time becomes a burden.

I know it will go well.

Kis, thanks for the great advice. I don't know about the stretcher, though. You never know what the masses may do if they can smell weakness or fear. :D

Warren, the 5th grade graduation had the 20 minute, thanks for the memories, slide show.:grumpy: Man, next year, no more than ten minutes. The kinder kids didn't have the slide show or the speakers, but there were so many awards...and of course their attention span is about as good as mine...what was I saying? ;)

:D :D :D
You need to offer the diploma-by-mail option that universities do. I betcha a bunch of parents (not to mention kids who'd rather be playing Game Cubes/watching t.v. would take you up on it. ;)

Don't forget to check out the Chris Reeves website. Last I heard he was still selling canes made from not up-to-spec titanium hip part thingies.

Wonder if anyone has ever found a way to turn a cane into an atlatl, and store three or four spears inside?

Or maybe a blowgun using co2 cartridges?

Hmmm... having too much fun. must be medication time. ;) :D

Rusty...medication and blow guns. Sounds like the makings of a frat party. Or at the very least, a badly done scarey movie with lots of skin. :D Not that any of previouly mentioned is a bad thing. ;)

Ben

I love those movies...

They remind me of all the things I MEANT to do in college. And, if the price for doing them is someone in a hockey mask comes and kills you, at least you went out on a high note.

If you got a certain bunch of us together at medication time it would be much more fun than any Billy Tran Praty no matter how many mankeys were spranked with sharpened lawnmower blades.:D
Praty Rahty, not only time for meds, but also time for bed. :p :D

It's hard to believe that some people actually "study" while in college when there are so many life experiences to be had. :) And I like anything that has monkeys involved...you can't go wrong. "A man walks into a bar with a monkey...see? That's just plain funny even without a punchline. Or could it be the medication? Monkeys and medication...now, that's a combo.:D

You teach Fifth? Without a whip and chair?

My wife lasted 25 years of mostly Third and some Second before her knees went. She got out on disability after one knee was replaced, the idea being if she'd lose a race to someone in a wheelchair, she probably couldn't get there to break up a fight on the playground in time.

One of my uncles had his first knee replacement when he was 67 yrs. old, the second when he was 68. That was nearly 4 years ago. He deer/turkey hunts, fishes, & has hit every state in the union as of this spring on his Harley. Just as they were taking him to surgery on the last knee, he said he looked up & saw this drop-dead-gorgeous nurse. He said,"Ma'am, can I play tennis after this?" He said she smiled & patted his hand & said "you sure can." He said,"good, ain't never played tennis in my life!" His advice is: get you a good cane, listen to the doc, & work hard. His hunting buddy had a hip replaced a couple of years ago, & does whatever he wants to.

Hang in there. We'll be thinking about you.

DKP, thanks for the encouragement. I hope to get out and do some hunting this year. It would be great to try these khuks out in a camping situation.

Rusty, I used to teach 7th and 8th before going on to the high school level. Now THAT was an experience. Sometimes it's hard to believe I gave up archeology, but I really love the kids. I'm an assistant principal right now...the helper, as the kids put it, so I kind of need both hips to work to keep up with them. Man, do they have the energy. Who was it that said, "youth is wasted on the young?"
