History of the Blade Forum's Traditional Forum's Annual knife, 2006-2019

Great thread idea, Ted! Thanks everyone for putting in the effort. 2012 was my first BF knife and it's been fun looking back over the polls and discussions we all had.

If I may be so bold to post some family photos in Ted's thread, here are a few pics from our recent reunion, for your viewing pleasure. Ted, I even included a couple not-so-distant relatives of the forum knives. ;)

The astute observer will notice what looks like an ordinary Schrade scrimshaw stockman. That knife was a forum knife for the Schrade subforum in 2006, and the custom scrimshaw work was done by retired Schrade artist Frank Giorgianni. What a special knife...

Okay, now back to our family photos...

I'm picking this thread back up and going to get caught up with the hot links and updating the pictures. Like I mentioned early on If you have any pics, links to the '06 and '07 polls please feel free to post them and I'll sort through them and try to use them in the appropriate year's knife.

When you look back on how the Traditional Forum's annual knife started and how we hammered out all the details making something different, our own knife. I like to think that since 2006, every knife we had made has a little piece of each of us who got involved in campaigning for a particular pattern/blade configuration or scale material. Those who voted on the polls as well as those who ran the polls for each annual knife. Like life, some year's knives came easier than others, a few might even have been considered a difficult birth by most standards ;). Still every year the members in the community stepped up to get another year's knife made. Barry, Charlie and all the rest of you guys who have dedicated so much of your time and donated expertise and in the early years fronted substantial amounts of money to get them made. Thank you all, my hope is that this thread recognizes everyone's contributions and documents how we came together as a community of knife enthusiasts and were actually able to agree on something and get a knife made each year, :)

Here's a shot of the new annual and with the family too.

Great pics Glen, I especially love that you included the 2005 Uncle Henry's "Lost Souls" from 2005, the last SFO made after Schrade closed doors officially in '04. It really was the anchor point for the Traditional Forum's knife. It was the next year when we realized that we wanted to do this every year and it was too late for Schrade but we had some choices left with Canal Street Cutlery, (no longer available ) Queen, GEC and maybe another 1 or 2 manufacturers out there.

Thanks to everyone who's contributed to this thread and especially the select members who've come together for the last 12 years to see this tradition continued.

The 2011 is one I would like to own. I wasn't here back then and when I find them for sale I am never quick enough or the price is just to high. I do love my 2016 BF knife!

Wow! I used to own so many of these! I ended up selling them because at the time GEC was making knives with with either too hard of a pull or a nail nick that was not easily accessible. That illustrates why the latest BF #15 is the best of the best!!

I love seeing the history of our Knife! I have bought at least one every year since 2012; it sure would have been nice to have been here all along!

Thanks for the link., the 2011 was one for the books,

Yep - One for the records - as you will remember, my grandson, Clayton, was born on the week when I was shipping the 2011 - he just celebrated his 6th Birthday on Nov 14 - Time Flies!

best

With the new forum knife well on its way to completion I thought I'd post this here also and to give this thread a bump so some of the folks gettin' their first forum knife can see where our humble beginnings has brought us so far. this thread is a work in progress and I hope to make it sticky worthy as a reference and source for all the traditional forum's annual knife.

I'll be including as many pics, links and polls as I can gather for each year's knife.

This is a little better.

Interesting history. There are a lot more multi-bladed Forum Knives than I expected.
2018 will be my first, but hopefully not last Forum knife.

Great thread! Thank you all for the pictures and stories.

Maybe the 2018 polling saga and polling data can be added once the 2018 knives arrive?!
