Hog Hunt with a Tomahawk

Pretty darned Sneaky to get that close.

I would not have tried it with big hogs!

Spear, or pole axe, or something with more reach!

Seems like you would have to get a perfect hit to get a quick stop on one.

Disgusting, inhumane and unethical hunt.

Only because it was sleeping, or did I miss something else - like rules, laws, or practices? In my very limited knowledge, for food hunting I would think hunters would appreciate an easier time now and then.

It is probably against hunting regulations, (hard to say not knowing the state, but certainly in Canada) and besides that, sneaking up on an animal and hacking at it with a sharp tool and injuring it, is childish and reprehensible. That guy was not trying to make an easy kill and save an arrow, he was simply being a dumbass.
So if you thought that was completely fine, then yes, there is something you are missing here. The name of the game is killing the animal as quickly as possible.

If these hunters ate the animal and used as much of it as possible, then there's nothing disgusting or inhumane about it. Plenty of our industrialized livestock have it way worse.

Inhumane compared with what?
With how the animals in the supermarket were killed with love?

That's not hunting - that's committing violence for the sake of violence - to show his friends what a badass? (dumbass) he is. The guy probably tortured cats and dogs as a child.

I don't know really what to think. Would I do it? No. But it's not much different that poppin the head off a chicken in the backyard.

Stalking is a traditional hunting method that requires stealth and skill regardless of what the game animal is; HOWEVER, an ETHICAL HUNTER should ALWAYS dispatch an animal as QUICKLY and CLEANLY as possible. If an animal can't be killed with a single shot or blow...., then you are using the WRONG tool for the job. Just my $.02, but I have been hunting, successfully, for thirty-seven years.

I don't have anything against hunting with an axe. But use one big enough to get it done.
I treat fish better.

A guy I used to work with told me a story of when he worked on as chicken farm, one guy used to get a buddy to hold one still and he would boot it like a football into a concrete wall. It ended up in the supermarket with the other dead birds. Lots of fun!

Personally, I think any kind of hunting is cruel and inhumane, for this I despise hunters with a passion.

For the record I am a dedicated vegetarian who eats from what he grows. (I have my own fruit and vegetable garden.) I have not ate a single piece of meat for the the last 15 years or so and I try not to buy any products made from using animal's resources. (but the reality is that that is unavoidable in many cases.) Anyways, I would only condone killing an animal in a survival situation for food or in a defense situation where you are being attacked or someone else is being attacked by an animal.

Feel free to flame me with all your hate comments. I don't care what you so called hunters have to say.

Damn, that's a bit harsh! I firmly believe that humans were engineered to eat meat(hence the incisor teeth), but I don't hate those that choose not to.., seems a bit drastic to me.

Along with others in this thread, I think hunting should be done as efficiently as possible. I've been hunting for 20+ years, and have never taken a shot I didn't think would put the animal down effectively. Hunting shouldn't involve making an animal suffer if it can be avoided.

As far as this video goes, if he's going to eat the animal then I don't care how it's taken as long as it's done as quickly as possible with the least amount of suffering possible. Looked to me like he killed the black hog in a single strike.., pretty damn efficient if you ask me.

Oh please, you PETA types need to pick your battles. Hunters are ethical for the most part and harvesting game in the wild is as old as human kind itself. Vegetarians are the odd one out in the equation, but don't worry, I am a tolerant person so I do not despise you for your choices.

But one question, "despise you with a passion", do you actually seethe with rage at the thought of hunting or just using colorful hippy prose?
