Hog packs

Here's mine. I still need to add pistol mag pouches and other pouches for, stuff.

And more patches.

Sorry to bring this back, but I have a question. Forgive my ignorance, but...I've been looking at the Kifaru packs and they seem really nice. Especially the E&E or the Xray. What makes you guys love these packs so much? Worth the price? Someone sell me on them :)

Thanks in advance for any responses.

I don't have one, but I can assume it's this:

all good, long lasting, quality products come with a price. And for a company to charge that much and still be in business, it must mean that they put out a hell of a product. Kind of like Busse :D;)

There are other brands plenty tough and can get the job done. But I think the Kifaru packs are like Busse knives. They are the toughest of the tough.

I heartily concur! Having finally got my paws on a Zulu with PALS omni belt, I have to say that I'm as impressed as I hoped I would be, and that's a lot! It's definitely my new favourite mid-size pack. In fact, it makes me carry more just so that I can use it even on longer day walks!

Here are some photos; the Zulu's had some side pockets and a bit of mud since then though:

Fortunately I haven't had to try too many as I lucked up on a second hand Marauder at a great price - thus the beginning :D

If anyone is interested in a good quality pack for a cheap price.. check out Amron International.. they sell the military version of the Kelty MAP 3500 pack. Its a 3 day pack and the ACU color is 1000d. They say this pack is the Seal Issue for the past 6 years. The ACU color is on sale for $ 76. I have one and find it is much better quality than Maxpedition bags and its extremely comfortable. You'll be hard pressed to find a better deal!!!

My larger hiking pack is a mystery ranch alpha wolf system with side pouches and a load sling. It's an incredibly versatile pack, Unfortunately I do not have a photo of it loaded up. I do have pic's of my school and light hiking pack, and my edc.

Maxpedition condor 2 w/mini roly poly and an h1 hooked to the compression strap for my camera.

Maxpedition Lunada w/ 5x7x2 gp pouches on each side. I've tried switching to larger packs to avoid the side pouches, but I find that they end up being too big, too heavy, or have a single side carry. I need to be able to switch from side to side so my spine doesn't get messed up over time, and I want a lot of compartmentalization so I don't have pouches inside of pouches. The strap on this also keeps it from looking like a purse or a messenger bag, and it's not as large and cumbersome as a full sized backpack.

I've really been wanting to check out a pack by newcomer Goruck, but haven't seen many reviews... I am not really wanting a super tactical pack, but a little molle is ok. Here is the link to their site. Prices are steep, but their AD Mil discount is really good if you are qualified.

What ever happened to TAD Gear's CORE packs that were in the works? They were supposed to be less Molle'd out bags - but still retain the good ergos and build quality TAD seems to be known for.

You probably won't see many reviews of them because they are in the upper price range with kifaru and mystery ranch - except they don't have variety in their line up. they make three fairly small sized packs in a single format. While they may be great, that means that they will only be for those looking for a small or medium sized rectangle front load format made-in-america pack in the 300-500$ range. That's a pretty limited demographic of buyers.
