Hogfshle

Not to change the subject or anything. But i was curious as to why the HOFSHLE tends to be priced higher than a FBMLE when there's more Infi in the FBMLE than the HOFSHLE? They are both 0.312 thick right. Less HOFSH made or what. Thanks,

There weren't nearly as many FSHLE's made. And the FSHLE's were made available through a very limited offering while the FBMLE sat around the Company Store for quite some time before selling out, IIRC.

So anyone know if the HOFSHLE and the HOFSHSE have the same length and thickness?

If you mean the HHFSH-SE which is the one i have its 0.270 thick. Where your HOFSHLE or HOGFSHLE which ever is the proper term is 0.312 thick. The MOASH is 0.345 thick. If you go to Busse Collectors website you'll learn quite a bit about the different Busse knives. ;)

I'm pretty sure the SEs are the same length and profile shape as the original run...

But the thicknesses are... .320" for the 2007 SE and .270" for the 2008 SEs.
Both with a full height ground blade.

.

I would imagine if its a HOFSH its probably 0.312 thick. But only the janitor knows for sure, i guess?? There should be some old timer around here that knows all about the FSH's though.
You could probably pm Claehill looks like he was definately into the FSH's. And most of these fella's around here are glad to help out.

Which SE? 2007 or 2008? ;)

My 2007SE FSH is approximately .320"
My 2008SE FSH is approximately .270"

All have the same length.

Well then i guess that means alot of what i've read on this subject does'nt especially hold water. Looks like future advice is going to have to come straight from the Hogs mouth. Thanks LiL' Foo and Jaxx for the schooling.
Thankyou very much. :(

You had it right... I could see some HOGFSHs being .312" thick as a result of the custom shop satin finish process.
And the MOASHs are .345" thick.

Just a little variance on the 2007 & 2008 SE stuff. :p

Not sure what you read... ...But I did go check Jerry's thread on the Ganza where the 2007SE set was offered after BLADE, and believe it or not, he stated that the 2007SE FSH's were around .27". LOL, I'm assuming he might have typo'd that stat. This is when I pulled mine out to measure, because I recalled mine looking thicker. It's a teeny bit over 5/16" (.3125"), which is why I typed 'approximately' .32". There may actually be some .27" 2007SE FSH's out there, but I don't know. Mine came from BLADE directly, and not the Ganza.

Also, after the original run, many times the term "FSH, FSH variant" has been used to signify model only, but the thickness varies... mostly in the two thicknesses of .27" & .32", but not always. It is a bit confusing when you think about the original coated FSH, which is around .25"... :)

Keep in mind guys I'm asking about only HOG FSH's, not FSH's in general. There may be Special Editions those years of the regular FSH as well, I don't know. So, are you saying there were two HOGFSH Special Editions, 2007 and 2008, and the 2008 HOGFSH SE is only .27" thick? Thank you for your answers so far

This is where things can get a little confusing...

There is only one FSH Limited Edition, AFAIK... Yours is one of them, same as my #27, and every other numbered FSH at approx. 5/16" thick. There are a few sterile ones too.

The part where my confusion runs is "HOFSH"/"HOGFSH"... HOFSH is the correct acronym from what I've been reminded by those here longer than myself... Heavy Ordinance Fusion Steel Heart. However, I'm not sure whether if Jerry coined this term or the HOGS around during that time did, but it seems to denote any FSH in the 5/16" (approx. .32") thickness. "HOGFSH, I believe was just a small modded term to incorporate HOG by adding "Grade" to Heavy Ordinance FSH.

Here's Jerry's original thread on the FSHLE. :)

Keeping all of this in mind, both the 2007 & 2008 FSH SE's were sold as "FSH", not HOFSH or HOGFSH.

Thanks, Jaxx. OK, so just to make sure I've got it right: There is only one LE. The Limited Edition is numbered, and has tigerhide handles. I think we all know that one. Then there is a single run of HOGFSH SE's as well (see the link I posted above). That would be the 2007 FSH SE. What I'm getting from the above posts is that the 2007 FSH SE was .32" thick, while the 2008 FSH SE was .27" thick. So while the 2007 wasn't marketed as a HOFSH, it falls into the loose label of HOGFSH because of its thickness. Sound like I got it right?

...Yes to HOFSHLE
...Yes to one SE in HOFSH thickness
...Yes to the thicknesses to the SE's
...Yes to the loose label, and it being the same 2007 SE. :)

By George, I think you got it!!! :D:thumbup: ...Or I'm on the glue again! :o

Want to know the funniest thing about all this (not that it would have answered all my questions), but I was just going through my knife drawer and was surprised to find a HOGFSH SE (2007)!! :foot: :D :p :D

Ha ha, man, you just get to the point where you don't even know what you have anymore
