Awesome score. The magnacut Dekas are an incredible value. Those blue scales look niceI got an amazing deal on the Magnacut version at SMKW
I am thinking warnie AND drop point!I vote for the drop point![]()
Yeah, the red ones are, the 'murica themed ones are SMKW exclusive. When I got my MagnaCut Deka back in June, I was bummed with the feel of the squishy plastic scales, so I emailed a few different scale makers and asked if they planned to make scales for the Deka. The Blade Scales guy seemed interested and asked a few questions, then I got an email from him in the first week of August saying the scales were now available if I was still interested. Very glad I got them, it's an awesome combo for my purposes.Oh nice, that looks amazing. Are those Blade Scales? When did you order them? I have been stalking their site and they seem to be out of all but black, jade, and green.
Excellent! I would really like to see more scale options available, hopefilly more makers will jump on board.Yeah, the red ones are, the 'murica themed ones are SMKW exclusive. Just wondering what you think of this guy, assuming you did get it. I’m partial to wharnies, as they seem to suit most of the cutting I do better than drop points. I’m this close to pulling the trigger on this one.On-topic, I ordered a Deka in that funky multi-grind Wharncliffe shape, because A. I've got more than enough drop-points in my collection, and B. I got it for a good price from one of our Bladeforums dealers. I'm looking forward to checking it out!
I have both the clip point and warning. While I really like them both, I have to give the nod to the Warnie blade. Sharpens well and cuts even better.Just wondering what you think of this guy, assuming you did get it. I’m partial to wharnies, as they seem to suit most of the cutting I do better than drop points. Thanks for the honest reply. My hands are on the smaller side of average, so I don’t think the size would be an issue for me. I’ve got a Mini Osborne, which I like a lot, but that’s a bit small for me to think about for EDC. Great for around the house stuff and fidgeting, though.I wish I could really give you a good, objective review, but the fact is that I got it in, held it for a moment and then immediately gave it to a friend of mine I had over. It was too small for me, and I just wasn't a fan. It seemed well made, and the edge was screaming sharp, but that's about all I can say about it.
What is behind their specific Wharncliffe design? I previously looked at the Hogue website and did some google searches, but I couldn't find an explanation.Just pull the trigger. No one can tell you if it's right for you. The knife is well built (my wife has the drop point), it's fidget friendly, and the steel is great.
The grind is a bit different, but it was designed that way for a reason, maybe it suits your needs.
