Hogue Ritter RSK

I actually like the fact it's not quite as fally as my Crooked River, that one bounces, the Hogue is more controlled. It may get looser over time. One thing I do notice is that the Hogue blade has a bump on the bottom that hits the lock bar just before the blade closes, feels almost like a detent engaging. It actually helps slow the blade as it enters the handle. I have to let up on the lock bar at the right time on my Crooked River or it will bounce back out if I swing it shut rather than letting it fall. I can shake the Hogue open really easily but I can shake almost any knife open with some effort. When I do it with the Hogue it almost fees like it was meant to be opened that way.

This one will definitely see lots of pocket time. It's a little on the large size but my hand still slides by it pretty well though I have some jeans w/smaller pocket openings, it may not be the best for those but I have smaller knives too.

Carried it all day today at a baseball tourney, started in jeans and switched to shorts. Very pocket friendly knife. I only used it 4 times. To cut the tag off something, opened a box, opened a bag of cracked corn for the chickens and cut one of those giant 2.5" diameter gumballs my daughter had to have in half. Took some muscle but it went right through the gumball :)

I did end up playing with it and have found I prefer deploying it by rolling the blade out w/my thumb Reeve's style. It'll launch as good as any but it's so smooth out of the gate that it feels nice just rolling it open. I always had trouble using only 1 finger or thumb unlocking the Axis, it prefers a finger/thumb on each side of the lock-bar, at least for me and my knives. I can get it to unlock but not enough to make the blade fall. With the Hogue I can easily use either a finger or thumb to get the blade to fall all the way into the handle. It's loosened up some, it's quite fun to play with and cuts exceptionally well so far. I was wiping off the blade after the gumball and got the edge of my fingers, clean slicer.

I picked up a Hinderer 3" Skinny slicer a couple weeks ago, it's all dialed in now, I love it and have been EDCing it but this Hogue is going to cut into the Skinny's pocket time for sure.

Will be keeping mine for the above reasons plus some others. They shipped me one with black hardware on it which I prefer & I switched out the clip for a more comfy BM one. It’s all good now.
That’s a nice option and really surprised there alternating the hardware like that .
I would of been happy with the black but totally happy with the SW to .
I think the first run came with oil and paper work explaining the story to how it derived and a introduction to Doug Ritter . Mine didn’t have neither but so happy with the knife and that’s the most important.
Decided to take mine to watch Godzilla tonight hopefully I won’t have to test it out since Godzilla is a pretty big fella

Well it looks like there out of stock again and back on pre-order. Glad I didn’t hesitate and snagged one when I did.
Just wish I would of bought two now that I know how nice they are .

What a great knife !

I like mine ok but for my use it's good but not exceptional. Give me a mini version and I'll sing a much more enthusiastic song.

Anyone have any impressions of the blade performance compared with the bm Ritter in m390?

Not sure about it’s durability compared to the BM m390 But as far as it’s sharpness and thinness behind the edge it’s one heck of a slicer . I’m sure Hogue did a great job with this m390 though

I could be wrong as I did not measure but BM Ritter M390 somehow feels a tiny bit thinner behind the edge although Hogue Ritter is very thin BTE as well.

I just got mine in the mail. I was planning on getting the stonewashed version, but then I saw that they released a black-bladed one, so I got that instead. (The stonewashed ones were still out of stock)

I love it. Haven’t done anything heavy with it yet, but the edge is shaving-sharp, and whatever grit they used on it is much finer than Benchmade’s. One of the sharpest factory edges I’ve ever seen. As “slicey” as my PM2.

Blade centering, fit and finish, ergos, everything on this knife is perfect. It also feels more solid in hand than my 551-1 Griptilian (the G10/20CV version).

It’s really a great knife, and though it isn’t intended to be “pocket jewelry”, it looks better than the Ritter Grip or the regular BM Grip. Can’t believe the quality at this price point.

I’ve had (and still have) quite a few Benchmades, but Hogue crushed it.

this knife is the tits. Can't believe the black blade is still available with only 120 released. I'd love a new color g10 at some point.

My hesitation is that I prefer a SW blade to black, and DLC over Cerakote. I’d be paying more for a product that is less optimal given my preferences.

I recently sold all but two of my folders (Recon 1 and Caribbean are hard to replace functionally) so I could refresh my carry lineup. I’ve purchased a 0462 to finally give that a shot, I’m looking into getting a PM3 sprint in something stainless, and the SW RSK should fill the third and final empty slot in my lineup.

I’m very grateful to those who have taken the time to report their own experiences. I’ll likely spring for a replacement clip if I find the RSK to fit my preferences.

I've bought the stonewash a few months ago. At the time I didn't think I would like the knife as much. It seemed boring, utilitarian, and like the BM Ritters wasn't very appealing to the eye. However after I forced myself to carry and use it, I've fallen in love with this knife an it has been the one I've carried almost daily. I got the black version today, and the action on it is even better than my stonewash. It also appears to be a more consistently black G10 scales compared to my stonewash version, which tends to lighten up quickly even after oiling them. My only beef is that the thumbstuds aren't black which makes it look kinda funny. I did find a set of black thumbstuds that look pretty close to the OEM design. We'll know in a few days if they work on my second Hogue.

The black looks beautiful!
I think it has smoother action because of the DLC coating . I’ve had a few spydercos were the dlc action was much smoother . I had the stone washed Ritter and really liked it but that one got caught up in the never ending rotation of my collection and was sold . I’ve got my eye on the black version now !

I received mine a few days ago. Very impressed by this knife. Basically it's a better Griptilian.
It's more hand filling than the G10 Grip version (thicker) and more solid than the Nylon Grip version.
The blade is excellent and the M390 seems to be well heat treated.
The only thing I don't like is the clip. In my hand it's an immediate hot spot. Very bad sensation...but it's easy to replace.

Here you can see the knife in the middle of my Griptilian collection:
