Schrade IXL Wostenholm Canoe GAW

This came to me through PocketKnives4Sale on the forum over the summer! He ran a GAW and I won it!

I've rehabbed it a bit, but am in the middle of a basement reno and currently my 1K grit sandpaper is packed away in boxes somewhere so I won't be able to put a satin finish on the blades as I intended. Right now they have a brushed finished and need 15-30 minutes of wet sanding to get to that satin finish...or not! I just lubed the joints with dry teflon as well. It's also cutting paper sharp and would need another run on the course through fine stones to get it perfectly hair shaving sharp.

Reason for this giveaway:
I know that as the holidays come around every year, I've often times read about members stopping their enjoyment of knife purchases temporarily and such to ensure that their loved ones are cared for and provided for. I know for myself I just put aside my last knife budgeted purchase and bought a bunch of unique one off jewelry for my wife just because it's something that she wouldn't do for herself being as pragmatic as she is.

But I've seen a lot of folks on the forum do the same like my buddy Monofletch who often posts in the coffee thread. Where they halt getting for themselves so that their families can have a happy holiday season.

But in that spirit, here is a pretty cool and unique GAW.

Here are the rules, must be a contributing member who posts often. Doesn't have to be in traditionals but you must post and not just in GAW's. Your post with "I'm in" is your entry.

BUT IF YOU HAPPEN to be a Schrade nut and collector and can post up some of your Schrade collection you can opt to post 3 total entries at any given time. I have a real soft spot for Schrades both old and new and I know that I haven't tried nearly as many as I should but I always enjoy seeing them on threads event the Taylor-Brand ones!

That's about it, not much in the way of rules beyond this! Happy holidays! I'll call the GAW using a random number generator as the entries dwindle.

That's a very nice sentiment Chris. I've not entered a giveaway for a while, but if it's acceptable, I'd be up for that interesting piece of cutlery history. I had 3 family members who worked at the factory they were shipped out of Sheffield from, including my father. One of the lock-back's from that series of knives was, until recently, the folding knife I'd had longest, since 1981, but I gave it away to a good friend here on the forum recently :)

So please count me in, and here, firstly, is my Schrade Peanut, which I was gifted by r8shell a while back

Absolutely and you know for that great piece of history you can randomly insert two more entries at any time! I hate to say it but I run the random generator and to make it improved as it always seem to run the same numbers the first few times, I pick a random in my head number of runs as the official random number and never in the dozen or so times doing this has the #2 come up lol. But in any case besides the great insight, please do post a few more entries later in the GAW at your leisure!

Not an entry, but thought I'd share my favorite. Nothing special, just has a ton of character. Thanks for the GAW!

Thank you Chris, interesting GAW knife, I will be glad to participate this GAW, also because recently I became interested in IXL Wostenholm knives.
Anyway here is Schrade Walden whittler with propwood scales, ca. 1953-4

Whoah! That's a very decent example Mike, fine knife!

Thanks for a generous GAW Chris, but I'll stand aside thank you.

I'm in! This would be my first Schrade. Thanks for your generosity!

I'm in! I've always had a soft spot for Schrade. Some of the best knives I've ever carried. So here's two from the same mother Schrade but different fathers in Craftsman and Ulster. They kind resemble each other I'd say.

Thanks a lot Chris :D I have the memory span of a middle-aged goldfish, so I'll post this one here! :D  It was a gift from Charlie C :)

Wow I'm in! I haven't tried a Schrade but I would really like to.
Thanks for the chance Chris,
Bruce
