The new TOPS folder: XCEST DELTA ??? Folder with a 3/16" thick blade & 15/16" handle width. Seems like a heck of a bomb-proof folder. WAYYYY pricey though, at least their MSRP is.

Who will be the first ?

It's cool lookin' but...it could easily be half as thick and still be bomb-proof while having much improved cutting performance. And then it would cost a bit less, too!

Who will be the first ?

Probably someone who has forgotten that a knife is supposed to cut things. But it's got "Delta" in the name, so it will sell like donuts at a fat guy convention. I would have used "Tango" myself.

HAHAHAHA!

Well, I like the pure over the top aspect of it. And at an intro price of $129.00, it's very accessible foolishness.

Problem is, from what I can see, the locking liner is just a little strip of 1/8, or even 1/16th steel.

You can ramble on about steel chemistry and whatnot all you want, but for me, the important thing about a folder is the lock's ability to resist failure. From the looks of it, this 20oz (or more) chunk of a folder isn't going to do any better than anything else.

Just not sure it will meet my needs, I am still looking for a hard use type blade that will stand up to what I dish out...

I'd add a couple more and make it "Whisky Tango Foxtrot" :D

Seriously it looks like it wouldn't be a bad knife if it was half the thickness with a much higher grind. But as is it looks like a folding brick. Just my personal assessment based on the pics though.

I must say, by contrast, that I've been very pleased with the looks of the thinner models they've been putting out lately. They make quality, that's for sure!

But how am I supposed to open my bag of pop tarts with it? Every time I have a super beefy knife on me that can't accomplish basic real world tasks very well, I feel like a total doofus.

edit: nevermind it's got a "hardened tool steel" pocket clip. I'm sold.

I doubt you could forget you were carrying it, thats for sure. Even if it was in its sheath on your belt, it just looks plain HEAVY.

42Blades---Whiskey Tango Foxtrot !!! LMFAO !!!! :D

Google image search and you will get a picture of it.

Looks pretty pointless, but there's someone who wants one somewhere I would immagine.................................

+1 To that! You know it will probably sell though, which is fine, hopefully that leaves more pricier hard to obtain proper knives for me.

Wow, I like it.

I liked the XcEST Alpha, the edge was a little thick, so, I fixed that.

I'd buy one. Probably will buy one, actually.

From the TOPS website:

THIS IS NOT A TOOL FOR EVERYONE, SUGGESTED USE
WOULD BE FOR PROFESSIONAL OUTDOORSMEN,
MILITARY/ SWAT OPERATORS AND SAR.

THIS IS A TRUE PROFESSIONAL’S PARTNER

Guess that rules me out.

Guys, there's is a Desert Eagle in one of the images on the website...that tells me the knife is a complete joke, just like the gun. Too big, too heavy, too "loud" (visually, for the Xcest). Both the Xcest Delta and Desert Eagle are very unrealistic.

Plus if you can't use a pocket clip what is the point of a folder? Just buy a fixed blade with a sheath.
