Holy Trinity?

Who should be the third member of the holy trinity of US knife making, after CRK and Hinderer?

  • Strider

  • Les George

  • Demko

  • Spartan Blades

  • McNeese

  • Koenig

  • Medford

  • Other

I voted Demko as well. I like that my AD20.5 come with studs and a hole opener, though I wish I could remove the stud.
I forgot to mention:

Most of the brands listed specialize in titanium framelocks. I know that's the in thing with higher end knives. I'll take CF, wood, and micarta over titanium any day. I guess this is why I find myself going more of the custom route.

To be fair…The Trinity was never about manufacture as it was about 3 knives. The original back in the day was:

Sebenza
XM-18
SnG

There is no need to create a new one as the knife world has changed so dramatically since then. Remember at that time these knives were the beginning of what we see today, a market folded by mid-techs. These knives were the enthusiasts “ Holy Grail” knives at the time, expensive and hard to get. Everyone wanted them which is why everyone wanted them.

I didn’t Vote because it can not be recreated. Everyone here is trying to pick a manufacturer not a knife because there is no way to pic a consensus on a model any longer.

I didnt see P Peter Hartwig post or I would have just said “YEAH What He Said!”

Nobody is spotless, and every member of the manufacturing and design communities has something that they bring. I'm kinda a no masters no saints kinda guy, but even giving that, there are not many company owners/designers who have gone out of their way, or even at a loss to make the industry better. Some have done so in a bit of a self martyring way, but without knowing the full story, there is no way to really know for sure. So for the few that have tried to put back, make up for their missteps and keep the tide rising, they belong in some sort of elevated place, but to what end? I care that someone is making a knife that fits A) my need, or B) my design aesthetic. If a company decides to ride on something else, then they tend to not hit my radar. So what does having a pantheon really give us? Elevate someone and they will disappoint. Or their crime will soon go forgotten if they manage the right hype cycle. So no, bulldoze olympus to gravel and stop pretending that anyone is above reproach, but also be realistic about every production knife having super even bevel angles, and perfect bead blasting.....

Ah crap, I just complained about the point of having the internet to complain on. Ah well, Pobody's Nerfect.

CRK Sebenza
Hindered Eklipse (yes, over the XM-18)
Koenig Arius

These knives are exceptional in design, quality, craftsmanship, usability, and aesthetics.

Man this is too hard to answer, myself. I thoroughly love Les George, Mcnees, Spartan, Demko, Medford, Microtech, Chaves, and on and on lol. How about the Holy Dozen?! 😂

Sal is an obvious choice, unfortunately the most “mid-techish” Spydercos come from Taiwan.

Demko makes the bulk of his volume overseas also.

Among the other choices there’s not a name that clearly rises above the rest.

I’ll be the contrarian and call out a fixed blade maker (folder wasn’t specified): Carothers Performance Knives.

My thoughts exactly.

For those that mention Sal, and since the HT is referring to specific knife models, which Spyderco model do you suggest that is trinity worthy?
