Holy Trinity?

Who should be the third member of the holy trinity of US knife making, after CRK and Hinderer?

  • Demko

  • Spartan Blades

  • McNeese

  • Koenig

  • Medford

  • Other

CRK Sebenza
Hindered Eklipse (yes, over the XM-18)
Koenig Arius

These knives are exceptional in design, quality, craftsmanship, usability, and aesthetics.
That would work for me. I guess if we're going with iconic models from iconic brands, I'd suggest:

Les George VECP
Demko AD20
Spartan SHF
Mcnees Mac 2
Koenig Arius
Medford ... [don't know]

To me, one thing that distinguishes these brands from the production crowd, in addition to volume of production, is their selectivity. Aside from their custom work, most of them focus on perfecting just a few models instead of pumping out design after design.

Hahah, awesome poll/thread. Thanks to the op, but member Bracron, god of the knife nerds has already decreed Les George “The most underrated knife creator” the humblest third member of The Holy Trinity! Let it be known! 😂

I think my vote was obvious. The poll results has me yet again giving a hard look at Spartan though!

I read it.

Free Speech.

Now, just be fair and reasonable as well as fearless. Nothing wrong with inspiring a Gentlemen's Disagreement. Afterall, Duels are not permissible here...haha
I wanted to continue this privately as I think we're on different pages here. Do you have direct message capability?

We're not going down that road here. And frankly, just because we have the right to say things, even hateful things, doesn't mean we should.

"Choose wisely" is not a bad dictum.

I won't support haters either...I don't care how talented they may or may not be.

Now, let's move along and talk about knives.

Personally, I have too many knives to promote a particular holy trinity.

I'll step out of conversation to avoid the perception that I have some sort of ill-will.

Your choice. I'm not inferring anything. If I had something to say on that score, I would. Let's just keep it to the knives and everything will be chill.

He doesn't....based upon his membership category. Let's not pursue this further here...or you can leave a message on his profile if you wish.

That's the only point I was going to make. I feel no hostility about this whatsoever and I wanted to make that clear.

Back on topic! I've always felt like the Spartan Harsey Folder is the lovechild of the Sebenza and the XM-18. Plus it feels better in my hand than both those options. It gets my vote to be added to the trifecta/trilogy/whatever you want to call it!

I don't believe the term is relavant today. It originated from a time when CRK , Hinderer and Strider stood out, makeing knives in a new catagory. Rather than a production or a custom they were making high end productions that had a lot of custom/ hand work. Today there are loads of high end production knives. The knife world has caught up with them and in some cases passed by them. Practically every custom maker now has a production line.
I think you hit the nail on the head there. There are quite a few companies/manufacturers competing in the same niche now, any one of which you could make an argument for and many of which blend attributes of the “old” trinity.
