I think the 2 was most peoples first Becker, if not first quality woods-knife in general. I know it's what got me started, watching and reading Brab's classic torture thread of the BK2 made me want one. I have always like big brutal things that are hard to kill....and the Campanion is the epitome of that.
I find myself sort of ignoring the poor 2 a lot, it doesn't get the spotlight the King and others do...and the wild train ride that was the Tweener release has made a lot of us ''mothball'' our old loves. But it's comforting knowing the 2 is there, patiently waiting to be released on any chore we ask of it. I call the Beast2 my ''Knife Insurance''....No matter how hard or dirty, no matter if it's something I SHOULDN'T be doing with a knife, the Sharpened Prybar always comes through.
I think it means something that the 2 is the only knife I own two of....it aint glamorous, it aint as sexy looking as some, but it gets the job done and it can be depended on at all times.
I have honestly tried to hurt my Campanion....I have put it through tasks that I would shudder to try with other blades...have tested and experimented...beat on and neglected....the 1/4'' 1095 studhorse takes anything I throw at it and laughs.
People gripe it's too heavy, it aint long enough, but the people who love their 2s just smile inside and give their baby another stropping.
I was playing with my 2 out in the yard today...and it just reminded me that maybe I have been buying more and more knives when the first one I bought would last my life...and suits me to a Tee.
My 2 on his first day out...
He's been stripped, cliched, jimped, filed, etched and clipped. Not to mention had the holy hell beat out of him.
This aint My thread, this is the Bk2s thread...I KNOW I aint the only one who loves this Beast...share your thoughts, your adventures, your pics....and if ya don't have a BK2, try one out, I don't think many regret the measly ~65 dollars the BK2 cost them. If you have a BK2 that you have been neglecting.....take him out for the day.
