Homage to the 2

I've used a buddies 16 and while I like it, it's just not like the full sized becker, and I know it's not supposed to be, but I just LOVE the ergos of the full sized beckers and the tweeners just don't do it for me.

What I'm talking about is changing the blade thickness from 1/4inch to 3/16th, and either keeping the saber grind or making it FFG, in my opinion that would make it the ultimate belt knife, 5 inch blade, 3/16th, FFG and becker ergos? Yes please.

Lonewolf.. what you're asking for pretty much exists exactly in the RAT 5... although it's not the same ergos as the Becker... the RAT ergos are still pretty good. I'd sand/round the micarta to make it even more so.

Whaaaaaaa? Why not?!?! I'm loving mine.

Pretty much what Uncle Mal said. I don't DISlike the 16, it just aint a 17 LOL

Because we all know TB is in love with the 17. He has a 'thing' for clipped blades. ;)
cuz Clippier is Sexier.

I hear ya there, I also like the full-size ergos. A BK12 may be the closest to that, take the ramp off, prolly as close as you can get.

I suppose you could always have the stock of the BK2 thinned out... I know Justin used to do that for his Ranger RD series before they had the bush series with thinner stocks.

I've looked at the BK12, I think the weight system seems kind of gimmicky, it could be really cool, I don't know I've never handled one.

I have considered the RAT5, and while it looks almost perfect, I just can't get past some of the horror stories of Ontario heat treat / fit and finish, just seems like kind of a gamble.

The weight system is irrelevant when you add micarta scales(they have to come out). It's a pretty amazingly balanced knife. I know it's pricey, but I'd say to give it a shot. Totally worth it.

I also wouldn't mind spending the money on a RAT 5. I know there have been reported issues with Ontario heat treat, but if there is any kind of failure like that, they will replace it. I quite like my RAT 3. It's not the same quality as my ESEE 3... but it's a decent knife that I keep in my EDC pouch in my backpack. I've beat it up a bit and have had no issues thus far.

The 12 is nice, I have handled them, I will pick one up some time or other for more in-depth testing. The balance system can be removed, in fact it HAS to be removed to install micarta scales.

now, back to boasting about how cool the 2 is. lol

I honestly dont care about the weight, it aint like it weighs 5 pounds or anything.....I don't see anyone suggesting a person carry a snub-nose .38 into Bear Country because a .454 is ''too heavy'' LOL

Same, I was considering a RAT-5 before I got my BK-2 but backed out after hearing some of the stories about it. My new BK-2 slightly resembles the 5.

Hmmm, this thread could be the incentive for me to get the BK-2. Now if it came straight-away like The Warrior's rendition, that would be superlative!

I've been beating up a Rat 5 for 2+ years with no issues at all. Covexed it and its a great cutter with great retention.

The 2 is what brought me to the Becker line. I was in upstate NY with my bud and his brother in-law and he had the 2, I had heard of Becker before but never gave a look. He pulled out the 2 and I was like what the hell is that, I could not believe the thickness and overall feel of it, he had the micarda scales on it and I was in love. Needless to say after that I have been on a Becker rampage.

2 was my first BK
