Had a few rainy days here, So deided to do a little project, While my end all goal would be to make one of these out of rivercane (I'm a long way off) I decided to cheat and go to home depot for some Copper pipe.. (pvc works also but a length of five feet is reccommended minimum for hunting applications, and pvc begins to bend under its own weight at that length)
SO I started off with f feet of copper pipe and I uses a large pipe connector as a mouth piece: Here it is next to a CS Bushman for scale

Here is the Dart made from a 10 inch piece of 1/4 inch dowel with a paper cone back, and a fire hardened sharpened tip...My goal is to eventually make A broad tips out of glass or flint

Here's the Dart Perforating a papertowel tube at a distance of 30 ft

and here it is with a mall ninja coating of black tape

Pretty easy project over all, and it is wicked fun to shoot... (ridiculously accurat inside of about 15 yards... I'll do a target practice video soon... THanks for looking

beute!

coat the paper dart in superglue to make it bullet proof, and use exacto blades at the end to really hit the point home!

I really need to upgrade ... apparently these are no longer state of the art

Nice work Boys... Joe Love that broad head....
Eventually I'd lke to go total trad wit a wooden blowgun a small napped broad head, and a thistle backed dart.. But for now I might have to give those broad heads a go.....I was also thinking about a portable one... 2 2&1/2 ft sections of pvc fitted together with a pipe connector that is only adhered to one piece ( so it could be dis assembled) the Blow gun could be assembled and than lashed to a poll cut in the fireld to keep it from bending.

I made one as a kid after watching a Charles Bronson movie. He used a tube from a tall lamp and wood screws with paper cones as ammo. I just had to field test that and ended up sticking dozens of wood screws in the door of the shed. I used an aluminum tube about 5 feet long. Mac

Doc- I haven't checked the legality of it here but I'm sure I'm in some type of violation LOL
almost everything is illegal in NYC

Doc,

Same problem in CA. However, I have friends with blowguns in AZ.

I used to jokingly say that CA must be worried about drive-by blowgunnings---until one actually occurred in another state. Some poor guy took a small dart in the thigh. [Still, one incident is obviously not a justification for banning them.]

Looks like a lot of fun - illegal, though, here in Ontario.

i believe blow guns are illegal in all of canada.

still pretty cool though. thanks for sharing RR

Thats the most ridiculous things Ive heard today. I suppose small rocks that you could throw at somebody should be illegal as well. Sheesh!

Ive got angst against goverment today.....I just did my taxes:barf::grumpy::grumpy:

Ooh, that is cool. I was watching a TV show where they showed how to make there a while back. Need to find that TV show again..

PS. Why would they make blowguns illegal? That is just silly..

Yep.. ironically though absolutely anybody can go out and purchase a .50 cal. flintlock rifle with no license required.

actually interesting topic. while your on it, you can buy .50 cal sniper rifles at a gun shop about 2 hours drive from my place. fires .50bmg and comes with a nice bi-pod. you'd figure they'd let us have blowguns if we can have .50bmg sniper rifles :D

i'll probably make one for some backyard fun anyways.

Runsalone and The Game,

In CA, even a billy club is illegal. So don't go around shaping any sticks!

CA weapons laws make no sense but we can expect more bans rather than the lifting of any bans, given the present political environment in this state. But I won't say anything further since political discussions of that nature might be considered inappropriate in this forum.
