Speaking of venturing, if you venture anywhere remote, put some contractor grade trash bags in your pack. Even better if they're brightly colored. Bags were one of the few pieces of issued gear at the RAT survival class, and we used them for shelter, for ground cover, and for signaling. They can also be used for water collection, as ponchos, etc.

My neighbor bought a bunch of the heavy duty 3 mil orange ones and gave me a couple a while back. I went over yesterday and bought a dozen more from him.

I have 3 or 4 in my bag when I head out. Doesn't take up much space or weight.

Do you want ants? Because this is how you get ants!

Classic!

My brother used to do weight watchers and it seemed to work for him

I tried WW and it worked for me. But pretty much any system of counting calories and making sure you expend more than you take in will have you losing weight if you stick to it.

Wow, this thread went all kinds of interesting places while I was traveling. A Cap sighting, talk of Firefly, etc. Good stuff!

In other news, got my MP5 .22 in yesterday. Just need to schedule some range time to play with it.

When we going shooting? :D

Thinking I'm gonna get a push reel mower for the cabin. Makes sense to me.

Me too. My back and knees can't deal with it full-time anymore, though. But yeah, it's a really good feeling to build something you know other people will enjoy, and it will last a long time if taken care of halfway decently. Naturally, that's also part of why I enjoy making knives :)

I hear that. I've been working in my mom's yard here and there over the past few weeks. A project long overdo. About 3-4 truck loads of weeds, overgrown brush, volunteer trees, etc. Looks so much better.

I would venture to say since your the forth owner of that knife the warranty is void. So, dont go out trying to break it. However, I do and will cover craftmanship errors or repairs under NORMAL use. Fact is, if you can break that knife, chances are your doing something outside whats considered normal. Like most reputable makers out there. I do cover my work, my word, and my name. However, I dont cover stupid. Use the hell out of it. Insult its mother, abuse it some hell I dont care, it will take it. Chances are though you break it, it was because your trying to.

There is no way I'm going to snap this thing, or really hurt it, the most I'll do is much up the edge, or loosen the handle.

Now would be a good time to refer to post #668.
:D

Well, that didn't take long.

Longer than I thought.

Anyway, I put together this review, hope you guys enjoy! http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1196788-I-got-a-Yuma!-Review-Shootout-with-the-ESEE-4?p=13703798#post13703798

Very cool. They work. And you get a pretty good workout.

Yeah, it just kinda makes sense. I just called a guy from Cragslist, a few miles from me, like new, for $20. Of course, he sold it a few days ago.

Had a high of 100°F today.. The sky is overcast now but its still 96°F right now... A bit warm.

Maybe a little proactive prevention in the future, say, like,..... checking for rocks under the limb BEFORE starting to chop? Kinda like making sure you have water in a pot before you turn the stove on????? Or that there are no rocks under your log when using a chain saw??? Heaven help the day your dad let's you try out a fueled up chainsaw.   I mean, really, hitting a rock with BOTH knives?????

Rainy and in the mid 80s here in the Louisville metro area...great, here comes the humidity since its going to be at least ninety for the next few days.

In MM defense, I'm pretty sure he's just pullun our legs. Even if he hit a rock he isnt going to break that Yuma. Unless of coarse he was jack hammering it. ;)

In other news. Easing back into the knife thing after Blade. Kinda got burnt out there with that push to get shit done for the show. Worked on a few different things today. Cbear, you should have a hell of a package coming your way soon as long as I got enough leather for the sheaths.

Worldwood. Found a piece of scrap 01 laying under my saw big enough for me to cut out a keychain hatchet.

Trying to resist taking some money out of savings to get a Junglas. Knifeworks has them with orange G10 scales and sheaths for $150 and free shipping.
