Honest objective criticism

The gist of this whole thread is that I received this knife as a gift and didn't expect anything out of it, I was surprised by it and in testing have determined that it is perfectly adequate for my needs. ( I've got fixed blades for heavier work )
I don't typically make anything near 100 cuts on cardboard in a month and often have more than one knife on me, so I'm confident that it'll still be sharp after a week and that's honestly an acceptable blade for my needs.
I may prefer a slightly harder blade like Bucks 420hc, but this knife will work so I'll find a use for it as it was a gift.
I tried, but I just can't knock it knowing what it is for the cost.
Anyone that even suggests you should destroy a knife that was gifted to you is just a troll. Ignore that noise and enjoy the gift

I sure will.
I won't say I have loved every knife that was a gift, but this one is useable so I will.

I've gotten plenty of knives as gifts. I cherish them, because of the thoughtfulness of the gifter. If it's from a child, i will put it on display , instead of carrying it because it is "so special".

I figured I'd get some objectivity on it to see if anyone would be surprised about what it is,assuming they trust that the knife is as decent as I say my example is. I guess this was a bit of an experiment, and I was sort of inspired by a YouTube video where a knife couple had 2 kids put a group of knives in order from cheapest to most expensive ( I believe they ranged from 5$-$500 )

Sure, it is attempting to look like a more expensive knife. I will give it that. It succeeds at that, I guess.

I'm glad it is performing to your standards, but I don't really see how its performance is surprising for a $4 knife. It seems to be performing exactly as expected, i.e., losing it's edge quickly.

As I said before, its a gift and should be appreciated/enjoyed as such.

This whole thread was posed as a vehicle to show this knife punches above its weight, and I'm just not convinced. Sorry.

as far as what i can see from the picture.

the part of the blade that is raised for the thumbstud, looks like it could be a hotspot when applying pressure ontop of the blade with the thumb.
the linerlock jimping seems rather agressive so may be a hotspot when hard using.

but the biggest mistake seems to be the sharping choil and the start of the handle.
with the current design you cannot put your finger there, a little change and you could very easy choke up on it.

other than that seems nice.
