Honestly, your most used knives?

Almighty becker necker - unbelievable knife, small, light, compact that can survive everything. Dulled to flat surface and resharpened numerous times.

i would like to post vic farmer, but honestly, i doesen't see 1/100 of necker action.

Kitchen - This one has made it's way into our kitchen, and I have been using it as often as possible. I have also been working on convexing the edge.

EDC - I recently picked up this Case Amber Bone large Trapper in CV. I forced a patina on the blades and have been carrying it every day. Sorry for the blurry pics.

I've also been carrying this little Dave Farmer knife - It's a nice one!

Hiking/etc - Vic OHT

Ray Laconico Camp Knife - This is a pic from when it was new. It has a few scuffs and stains on it now, but I don't have a decent current pic.

Choppers - These two Pen Knife khuks from HI. The little one has seen a bit more use since this pic.

Most of the time I have one or two SAK offerings in the pocket. These knives do get used for just about everything, plus I tend to give them as gifts. Many people I give them to get some great use out of the smallish blades from Delemont, Switzerland. Of course, the price is right. I have also given away many Mora knives to the utter delight of the recipients.

In the fishing tackle box I have a Buck 110, next to a few older Rapala knives that have seen better days. The fillet knives have been used to the point where I could stand getting a replacement. They are exceedingly easy to sharpen, cheap and they hold a decent edge. In fact, they are perhaps one of the better kitchen knives out there on the market for the money.

In the kitchen, the Buck 119 sees some use, but mostly the cutco knives get selected when meal prep is in process. I have found that the smaller paring blades get used the most, abused, bent and then left in the sink without being washed or dried. We also have a few stainless Tramontina knives which get used on a regular basis.

In the back of the kitchen drawer we have two really nice Sani-Safe carving knives by Dexter Russell. They are kept for slicing butchered meat.

In the field, I have a huge history with the Basic 9, Trailmaster and various other knives which have come across my path. My most used field blade would have to be my 18 inch Ontario machete with a close second going to either my SAK or Buck 110.

I collect knives with the intention of using them, so just about every blade I own has spent some time in the field.

But, a few see considerably more use than the others.

First picture:

  • Top: My kitchen knife, based on a Frosts high carbon blade. Handle by me. The blade gets a new mustard / vinegar patina treatment every time I sharpen it, to the point that it almost looks cold blued now. It's ugly, but it does a fantastic job.
  • Middle: A DDR kit knife with cocobolo handles. This one is a bit beefy, so I keep it in my pack or briefcase.
  • Bottom: A GX-6 kit knife that serves as my true EDC. This thing is indespensible. It fits in the little pocket of my jeans, and gets pulled out every day. Handles are Chechen.

My current hiking and general outdoors companion is based on a Maverick blank (from knifekits.com), with black oak handles:

And I am never, ever without my Becker Necker, which sees use fishing, camping, hiking, around the house, and at the office. Ethan Becker is a genius for including a bottle opener on the bottom of this beauty, by the way. I can't count how many interesting knife conversations have started after someone mutters "Shoot, this isn't a twist-off. Anyone have a bottle opener?", only to be passed my Necker.

All the best,

The knife that gets the most use is my SAK Farmer with pocket clip.

The knife that gets the most woods time is my Kosters bushcraft.

My most used knife is a Bark River Canadian Camp Knife.

From food prep to fire duty, this one does it all for me.

David Farmer small drop point is really all I use anymore 3" inch blade probably 6" overall-and a perfect size for me. I love this knife and it is a good companion when I go to the mountains, fishing, hiking or even in the kitchen! I hate to admit it but this knife has taken some dirt time away from my beloved Buck 110.

That canadian camp knife is awesome big mike!

Hey BarberFobic1992 how is that koyote bushcrafter in the bush? Ever since you picked that one up I have really wanted one from koyote. Great looking knife by the way!

it is a great knife and he is an awsome guy to deal with.if you would like, i can e-mail you a more in depth review with some pictures, just let me know.

Thats easy, My kat knife. Thanks to Jeff H. who made me a real nice kydex sheath so i can wear it as a neck knife. I really like my pink benchmade pocket knife but its not as handy as My Kat Neck Knife. You don't have to open a fixed blade and they are easier to clean which makes it better for food prep. A small or med fixed blade is really a good all around everyday knife. :)

3. Mora of some sort
2. Vic, SAK Camper
1. Stainless steel butter knife is the most used: I use it breakfast, lunch and dinner, for snacks and while making sandwiches, cheese and crackers etc. Not sexy but for sure most used.

most used is my vic farmer..hands down
second is my mora carbon clipper (might soon be rep-laced by my new m2k)
and a recent acquisition that i've been using quite a bit is my custom breeden necker style...

Have a Breeden that I use often for landscaping projects. I switch it out with a Koyote Bushcrafter. Flipping awesome, BOTH of them! Get one if you don't have one!! You won't be sorry.
