here's nsome but definately not all...

Great thread! I've gone through dozens of SAK Classics over the years--they have been lost, "borrowed," confiscated off the ol' keyring at the airport, and/or given away. The Classic has definitely logged more pocket time than any other knife. A Recruit lives in my backpack, and I'm currently on the lookout for an Alox Cadet... I keep getting distracted and buy other knives instead (o the shame!)

This thread makes me realise that I've taken my SAKs for granted... maybe I should buy 'em some flowers! :D

Me, too. I always EDC a SAK or two, and for years they were all I carried. Useful for so many things, and the high quality for a low price combine to create insanely high value. Victorinox is my preferred brand of SAK.

Mr. Karl Elsener and his Victorinox brand of knives is the undisputed king of knives in the world today.

Loving seeing other people's SAK's.

I love mine, and carry my climber all the time in my front right pocket along with my delica 4 in my back left pocket. I will continue to buy more ever chance I can, well them and spyderco's. :D

I also have a tinker with the Boy Scout logo on it. It is special to me since it was my first knife given to me from my Dad when I was 8 or 9. It is even more special because he gave it to me for becoming a boy scout. I am fortunate to still have it after 14 or so years. I rarely put it in my knife carry rotation anymore; it means too much to me to risk losing or breaking it.

I rarely ever go without a SAK, it really is an extension of my body for day to day tasks.

I was asking around for EDC knife recently, and created a thread too. I am kinda new around here, but have been reading the forums for a while now. I really hate those tactical looking knives with serrations and whatnot, that is just me. Some of the folks recommended the SAK, as well as others. I picked up SAK Pioneer yesterday. It is great! Love it! It was exactly what I was looking for. I just bought a Rough Rider Scout too for $12. I don't have it yet, so we will see.

Well the Vic Weekender ahs been my working buddy for the better part of 2 years that I was on the road. And the Recruit was at home being used as the primary can opener

Yeah, I've got SAKs on my keychain, in my pocket when I'm in the office, on my belt when I'm working around the house. Even when I'm out hiking and camping and I have a fixed blade of one sort or another on my hip, I'll have a Trekker or Rucksack in my pack as backup. ;)

The thing about it is, the sak is not just a knife, but a tool for all those little emergency's that pop up in life. As muc as I've used my sak for slicing open a UPS package or cutting something, it's the times it's saved me some big hastle by being a tool. Like the time out on a very big long twisting Canadian lake, and the twist grip on the Minnicota trolling motor on the canoe started to come appart, leaving us with a long hard paddle against the wind back to the boat rental place at the other end of the lake. With a sak, I was able to get the screws tightened up back in their holes they were working out of, and motor back.

Then there was the time my Vespa motorscooter started to miss and sputter, and then died out on a country road way out in the boonies. No lights, no horn so I knew it was electical. Going to the battery to work my way up from there, I found the positive cable had worked loose. Fixed it with my sak in a few seconds and was on the way again. Things like that. And then there were all those cold Corona's at the picnic that needed to be opened, and nobody had a opener. Thank GOd for sak's.

Carl.

The Alox Bantam/Black Classic has been my no 1 combo for the past 3 weeks.

You can't beat the little thin knife with the wonder combo tool and those scissors on the Classic.

This combo is all I need in my 100% urban life:thumbup:

Got 30+ Spydies and some other high end brands including some multi layer SAK's, but this combo does it all for me;)

My dad is a one knife guy. That one knife has always been a SAK. For as long as I could remember, it was a Wenger with red cellidor scales and pliers (I don't know the model number). It was 3 or 4 layers thick. He doesn't carry it much anymore though since I got him a Vic Classic. He says its all he needs during the day. The rest of my family aren't into knives but they are all happily carrying Vic Classics on their keys as well. I still remember how their eyes lit up when I presented them with knives.

I'm carry at least a Vic Manager every day, sometimes with a Alox Bantam, Cadet, Pioneer, or Farmer. Speaking of Farmers...

I did a three year posting in West Germany in the 80's. one of the first items I picked up was a SwissChamp with the "kit". Not my first SAK, but I don't think a day went by without it being used. I know for sure that the tools were used more than the blades. This was a favorite that got passed to my son when he also joined the US Army.

I made an order at a local shop today, and prepaid the balance. I also bought a Victorinox Tinker because:

A) I didn't already have one and they're awesome.
B) I couldn't drop $300 at the store and walk away without *something* new in my pocket.

I'm very pleased with the Tinker and glad my addiction made me buy it. :)
