Horribly disappointed

Triton,
In adjustments. It is mainly in where on the handle I hold it. I have had to hold the handle a little further back than I would on a larger knife. Then as another mentioned, a quick flick and the blade opens and locks without actually using the stud for more than a flicker. I had to do the same thing with my MT Kestral. Certian ergo adjustments and I have been able to get some of these fine small knives to work ok for me.I hope you are able to also.

Don't be too horribly disappointed with the EDC.
I tend to buy the knives from stores (I don't like to pay tax AND the brokerage if I get it shipped here), and sometimes I have to exchange for a different one because it just didn't feel right.
Mainly I have problems carrying it or have some minor problems that drives me nuts that warrants me to return it.
It happens.
Hope you'll find something you like.

Moving to the Good, Bad and Ugly Forum. I hope you can work it out by changing your grip. I have hamhocks for hands (size 13.5 wedding ring) and have learned that with knives this size, one has to modify their opening techique.good luck.

Uh... I know for a fact a few of us are not "munchkins" although there are a few "little people" here , or is it that I make them "look" little? :D I had an Camillus edc and it took a little getting used to and I gave it to a good friend who liked it and has no trouble with it although he does use it as a money clip... great knife for the money spent.

I do not think I am a munchkin either.Love my EDC:)
Triton:Horribly dissappointing.Whew, strong descriptive words for such a minor problem.Sell the damn thing.Cleans your soul of it. :)
Then HAPPY again.:) :D :) Keep buying.:D ;) :D ;)

I know that those are probably to strong words, but they are accurate. I really liked the way this thing looked, kind of had my heart set on it you might say and now it turns out to be too small. Fortunately the nice folks at knifecenter.com have agreed to take it back in exchange for a solitaire. I'm going back to what I liked.

I've had my EDC for a few days. I have smaller than average hands and I had trouble opening mine at first. My problem was that I was holding my finger tips on the pocket clip and that pushed the frame lock against the blade. As this is my first framelock it took me a while to figure out what was going on. After adjusting my grip (finger tips on top of lock) it works fine. After slicing some chicken breasts, carving a few sticks, and cutting some plastic ties at work I like the knife a lot. The size is just right for me and I love the blade shape. The only thing I am concerned about is the lock-up. After opening the blade the lock springs over to cover approx. one third of the blade width. The blade is loose both up and down and side to side. I can force the lock over to cover the full blade width and then the lock-up is great. Are all EDC's like this? I have read other owners talking about the tight lock up and wonder if they have to use a second motion to get this? All comments are appreciated.

Welcome to Bladeforums, mrg23! If you post in the Camillus forum here (in the Manufacturers section) they'll fix you right up -- either that or email Will Fennel (click on his name at the top of the Camillus forum page to email him).

Fondling a knife before buying is good. It let's you know how it actually feels in your hand! Clawhand made a good point about going to a local knife store to fondle your prospective purchase. I thnk he missed a point by not mentioning that if you fondle a store's knives, then you owe them the oportunity to make the sale. Using a dealer's knives for evaluation and then purchasing from whoever has it cheapest online is a quick way to put the guy who let you fondle his knives out of business. It's not fair. Nevermind the relationship you develop when you do business face to face with someone. I'm not putting down internet retailers and I ocasionally shop online, expecially when I can't find something locally, but I prefer to see, feel and evaluate a product in real life before parting with real money.

Printer cartridges or dog food is one thing to buy online, but something subjective like a knife, a sportcoat or some speakers are something that really have to be experienced firsthand to be appreciated and make the right decision.

This again is just my opinion.

That is an opinion that I agree with totally, jmx. I do not think it is fair for people to use a B&M store for the chance to try out a product that they are interested in when they have no intention of buying from that store.

Too bad about the EDC not working out for you, Triton. It happens. I think you have done the right thing in getting a knife you know you will be happy with. Hopefully this episode won't make you reluctant to try out other knives in the future. You never know what you will actually like until you get to use it.

Edited to clarify who the second paragraph was addressing.

i often check out knives from a knife/gun store in my area, and never buy a knife from him, though we have traded upon occasion, he knows i buy online and he cant come close to the price i am paying, BUT i do buy all (or most anyway) of my ammo, guns, gunsmithing, etc from him, so it all works out in ther long run, but ya do have a point about giving them a chance, but gosh, 1 place in my area had BM axis AFCK's for sale, and 710's also, for $154.95(MSRP they said)kinda high imho, but FIRM, ended up buying 2 just because they were protos/pre-pro's, at the same price as the std, i bit the bullet and got them, i kinda collect BM proto/pre-pro/1st run, but heck thats kinda high for them really, point being the b&m store has to have a realistic price, if not, they are not long for this world anyway - i dont mind paying a premium sometimes to get the knife then and there, but i cant take a screwin' too often like that lol, they need to work w/ya and get to w/in 20% or so imho, the axis AFCK seems to be running about $110 (or less) on line, thats a BIG difference, and then add the tax........

i too have bought a knife or 2 thinking it was larger than i thought, seems like some pics make them look bigger than they are, always check the OAL (overall lenght) - it helps

wish some places would have 'life size' pics of knives, it would help imho

also, add a lanyard to the EDC, i have a M16-00 CRKT thats small too, but the lanyard seems to help, it kinda becomes part of the handle

I've got pretty small hands but the EDC is just a tad to small for me. I never got over how much I liked the design though, so I went to Darrel and made an order for a 3.5" blade size which I think will be perfect. It will be a happy day when that email from Darrel comes in :D

Andrew Limsk

I think that is pretty cool, I like the design, just not the size. To bad too. If I had tons of money I might do the same thing.

I've got pretty small hands and in a perfect world it would be a "tad" bigger, but I had bought the knife as either a trader or seller, but liked it enough I kept it. I can see buying something you already know and like, but it sure would put a whole industry in a major tailspin if people didn't take a chance on trying something new occasionally. Sometimes ya win and sometimes ya don't.

I have a Cuda EDC and it is wonderful-fits my hands
perfectly. However, it would be nice to try out
a knife before you buy it but over this forum that
is a little difficult to do. And many times the knives
are out of production. I have an Al Mar SERE 2k and
it is a good size but over this forum I bought an Al
Mar SERE 3003 and it is HUGE!!!! I need both hands and
my feet to open this knife-much too large for me but
what can I do-can't sent it back. So, just be careful
when you buy knives I guess.
