OK, I know I asked this question before, but why an Aimpoint ML3 over an Eotech 557 (the choice I've narrowed it down to). I know the battery has a crazy long life in the Aimpoint and needs a separate mount, but the Eotech seems to have a bigger field of view and includes a mount. I've never owned or used either so any input would be appreciated.

I like both optics. I have 512 on my 9mm AR and ML3 on the LMT mutt.

In my opinion Aimpoint is a bit better with the 2MOA dot - The Eotech 1moa dot and 65moa ring is a bit busy for me.

As far as the mount goes - LaRue / ADM / Brobo are all excellent.

Thanks Pauli.

as much as i hate lesnar, he would rape Fedor

I couldn't even read the rest of the thread before I had to get this one.

BullS#it!!!

I like Lesnar, but he would get put down by Fedor!

Fedor has speed, aggression, technique (that 95% of the ufc never could have) and he would show what a clown Lesnar and EVERY other heavy weight in the UFC is.

They (UFC) are good, but not "Beat Fedor" good.

Thanks Pauli.

Morning Gents!

Brian, I had the opportunity to look thru both before purchasing, and just prefer the single dot of the AP over the ET. The ET just seemed too busy to me.

The auto shutoff on the ET would not be a concern for most civies, but I would think twice about that option if I was LEO or MIL user. Battery life on the ML3 is 50,000hrs

There are a ton of threads out there, but it eventually boils down to what you like - hologram vs single dot

I would NOT let the mount determine the scope either - The cost in the longrun will be a wash by the time you feed the ET batteries. I also read somewhere that there were inconsistencies with the 557 mount fitting some rails. I like LaRue mounts - they cost more because they're worth it.

The fact that Pat Rogers prefers the AP over the ET was also a plus for me

With that being said, I have a new TR24-3G and a LaRue mount that I should be getting in the next day or so :D

I had an EOtech mounted on my Mini-14. It sat too high on the rail (with the lowest mounting set-up available) and was bulky. It made my gun very top heavy. Sort of like having a television mounted to my gun. I returned it and bought an Aimpoint Comp ML3 which I liked a lot more. Target acquisition may not be as quick as the Eotech, but the Aimpoint was better in every other aspect... IMO. And I had no problem with the Aimpoint when it came to both eyes open targeting.

I would suggest getting the 2 MOA reticle...

Red Dot ,Aimpoint...hands down. I really have nothing negative to say about mine, after 4 years of use.

Btw, if anyone is looking for a scope I have a 6X24 40mm Bushnell Elite 4200. PM me if interested...

Thanks everyone. Looks like a Aimpoint ML3.

I bought the Cr123x2 Tactical as well.

Did they ever release the max lumen output?

They (4Sevens) are saying around 300 led lumens and around 230 out the front lumens. The increased efficiency of the emitter, I think, is spread between the increased lumens and run time. It is definitely much brighter than my normal Quark. I programed my 2 settings for strobe and maximum output. If you are comparing it to something like a Surefire 6P-LED, the Quark will crush it.

You will be impressed.

Pauli, try the strobe.

I never understood the flashlight thing. Anybody care to explain? Arethese things that much better than any other flashlight?

They actually are. I have a $70.00 Streamlight (which is cheap compared to most) and it amazes everyone who sees it. Brutally bright...

Gear queer will be along shortly to explain.
