Horton Knives, G rated, Knife Discussion Thread

If BG 42 is so good why did so many makers, of folders, switch to S30V?
I looked it up and was impressed with how tough it is, especially for stainless steel.

BG42 is my all time favorite, Phil Boguszewski still makes all his knives pretty much from it (maybe he bought it all!). I bought a piece at Blade this year to make some folders from. It is too bad Chris Reeve quite using it, the older Sebenzas using it are much better, IMHO. I just got a Ken Onion Boa Midtech today that will be a user with a BG42 blade. I don't know if it is being made any longer, it is pretty similar to ATS34.
:D

I have one BG42 Sebenza and a Spyderco Mil.

I agree that it is at the top of the heap for a folder

Edjumacate me on Hollow grinds homiez, whats their purpose? What do they excel at? Not for hard use, correct?

Thanks,,,

Less cutting resistance thinner edges. More relief on backside of cut, it depends on the depth and how much knife is left on how hard I would use them, not a great Battoning Grind,

Yeah, I just use a 8" contact wheel that makes DEEP grinds. When you go full spine height with them, more for slicing, you see them like mine more in fighter type blades
