Thanks for all the input fellas...I'm gonna send it to him so he can do some further research. He is impressed with all the new information.

lol, I see what you are saying Blake.... squirrels are vicious little varmints!

Thanks guys - I'm waiting for one last piece and I think she'll be done.

In order to be pro-active about carrier tilt I ordered a custom H2 buffer from Firearm Ready Solutions - I had to measure the opening of my bolt carrier and the buffer was machined to fit the opening.

It eliminates carrier tilt - the only drawback is that both pins need to be pushed in order to separate the upper from the lower - extra 5 seconds to take the gun apart.

Brian are you reading this? ;)

Apparently expanding rounds are prohibited overhere,,, so Hydrashock and the likes are a no-no,,,

What is the next best round for home-defense in .45ACP ? What specs should I look for ?

Are those armor-piercing rounds ? I don't think they'll be legal either,,,

The brands I have seen overhere in the shops are Fiocchi, Winchester, Sellier&Bellot, CCI, Magtech, Remington, RWS, ELEY, ...

What grain bullet should I consider, +P or not, etc ?

LOL Pauli.

If Europe, like Illinois, they prefer this instead of "expanding" bullets to defend yourself.

LoL....

Brian got the joke....

If you are not allowed expanding - hollow point ammo - just use ball.

230gr worth of lead travelling at 850 fps will get bad guys attention quick.

Or move up to 700gr thumper travelling at 1100fps. ;)

Very nice...large tried to hook me up witha deal on one and I passed, been kickin myself ever since.

Sorry, was away from my keyboard for some time,,,

It will be for the HK45 which basically swallows anything if you can believe the reviews,,,

So, standard 230gr ball ammo will do ? (I can always use a Horton to draw a cross over the tip :D )

What's with the +P and ++P stuff ?

+P or +P+ indicates higher pressure loads - higher velocities

Higher velocity probably also means higer risk of penetration, right ?

So, that's a no-go for home defense ?
